Paying Fitr Zakaah
" The Fitr Zakaah is the seal and completion of Fasting for the month of Ramadan. If not paid and distributed to the needy before the Eid Prayers, the Fast for That servant are held in Limbo "

Zakaah al-Fitr [ for complete article ]
http://www.sunnah.org/ibadaat/fasting/Zakat_al_fitr.htm

1. MEANING
Zakaah al-Fitr is often referred to as Sadaqah al-Fitr. The word Fitr means the same as Iftaar, breaking a fast and it comes from the same root word as Futoor which means breakfast. Thus,  Zakaah al-Fitr is the name given to charity which is distributed at the end of the fast of Ramadaan.

2. CLASSIFICATION
Sadaqah al-Fitr is a duty which is Waajib on every Muslim, whether male or female, minor or adult as long as he/she has the means to do so.

3. SIGNIFICANCE
The significant role played by Zakaah in the circulation of wealth within the society is also played by the Sadaqah al-Fitr. However, in the case of Sadaqah al-Fitr, each individual is required to calculate how much charity is due from himself and his dependents and go into the community in order to find those who deserve such charity. Thus, Sadaqah al-Fitr plays a very important role in the development of the bonds of community. The rich are obliged to come in direct contact with the poor, and the poor are put in contact with the extremely poor. This contact between the various levels of society helps to build real bonds of brotherhood and love within the community and trains those who have, to be generous to those who do not have.

4. PURPOSE
The main purpose of Zakaah al-Fitr is to provide those who fasted with the means of making up for their errors during the month of fasting. Zakaah al-Fitr also provides the poor with a means with which they can celebrate the festival of breaking the fast (`Eed al-Fitr) along with the rest of the Muslims.

The Night of Eid Prayer

SUNNAHS OF `EIDU 'L-FITR

Sayyidina Ibn Abbas  says in a lengthy hadith, that he heard God's Messenger  say:

And the night of Eid-ul-Fitr, the night that is called Laylatul Jaa'izah, (The night of prize giving), comes along. On the morning of Eid Allah sends down the angels to all the lands of the earth where they take their positions at access points of roads, calling out with a voice that is heard by all except man and jinn.

"O Ummah of Muhammad   come forth from your houses towards a Lord that is noble and gracious, who grants much and pardons the major sins". When they proceed towards the places for their Eid salaat, Allah says to the angels: "What indeed is the reward of that employee who had rendered his services?"

The angels reply, "O Lord and Master, it is only right that he should receive his reward in full for his services". Allah then says, "I call you to witness, O My angels, that for their having fasted during the month of Ramadan, and for their having stood before Me in prayer by night, I have granted to them as reward My pleasure and have granted them forgiveness.

O My servants ask now of Me, for I swear by My Honor and My Greatness, that whatsoever you shall beg of Me this day in this assembly of yours for the needs of the Hereafter, I shall grant you; and whatsoever you shall ask for worldly needs, I shall look at you favorably. By My Honor I swear, as long as you shall obey My commands, I shall cover your faults. By My Honor and My Greatness do I swear that I shall never disgrace you among the evil-doing ones. Depart now from here, you are forgiven. You have pleased Me and I am pleased with you."

The angels on seeing this great reward bestowed by Allah upon the Ummah of Muhammad  on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr become greatly pleased and happy".

SUNNATS OF `EID
The following acts are prescribed as Sunnah at the beginning of the day of 'Eid-ul-Fitr before proceeding to the `Eid prayer:

1. To wake up early in the morning.

2. To clean one's teeth with a miswak.

3. To take a bath (ghusl).

4. To put on one's best available clothes; ensuring that it conforms.

5. To wear perfume (`itr).

6. To eat a sweet food, preferably dates, before departing for Eid Salaat. It was the noble habit of Allah's Apostle , not to go out in the morning on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr until he ate some dates, and he would eat an odd number. (Bukhari)

To recite the following Takbir in the low voice while going to the Eid prayer: "Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar La Ilaha Ila Allah Wa Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Wa Lillahi 'l-Hamd." Additionally, it is traditional in Muslim countries to recite salawat, such Allahuma salli `ala Sayyidina Muhammad wa `ala aali Sayyidina Muhammad... I thought that
I remember Him,
that I know Him,
that I love Him,
and
that I seek Him;
but when
I reached Him,

I saw that His remembering of me preceded my remembrance of Him,
His knowledge about me preceded my knowledge of Him,

........His love towards me was more ancient than my love towards Him,
and that
He sought me in order that

I would begin to seek Him."
