Dear Fitness Friends,
It brings me great pleasure to be saying Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all! I can't believe we are almost to Christmas time already.. and before we know it, we'll be celebrating 2008!
Scottie and I aren't having much going on at the house this year so we only put up a 8 ft tree (which still doesn't seem big enough with our decorations! Ha!) and only some of the other decorations we have from last year. We figured since we are spending the holiday with my brother and sis in law at their new home, we would save some electricity and not put all the lights up that we did last year! But not to worry, we have lots of holiday spirit and so do Camy and Fenway- they have Santa Claus and Ms Claus outfits which they strutted in when we went Christmas tree shopping!
At any rate, among all the parties, shopping and wrapping presents and spending time with friends, Scottie and I are taking some down time and relaxing as much as possible. We know come the start of 2008 we'll be busy once again in full swing.... so alittle more relaxing than we are accustomed to.. but it is nice!
Speaking of down time and refreshing .. we recently watched the 'Book of John' - purchased for .99 off one of the movie channels. It is about Jesus birth, life, death and resurrection- of course taken from the Bible and acted out. It seems no matter how many times I watch something like this I always have a renewed and refreshed spirit! If you haven't seen a movie such as this I highly recommend you look for it on your movie preview channels! If you don't have a movie channel to surf through, then check out these books of the bible to see the historic record of Christ's birth: Matthew 1:18-25 & Luke 2: 1-20.
Unlike any other baby, the one born that night in Bethlehem was unique in all of history. He was not created by a human father and mother. He had a heavenly pre- existence. He is God, the Son- Creator of the universe. This is why Christmas is called the incarnation, a word which means 'in the flesh'. In the birth of Jesus, the eternal, all-powerful and all- knowing Creator came to earth in the flesh. Why would God do such a thing? Why would He come as a baby, instead of appearing in power and majesty? ...
If you want to learn more and interested in the 'WHY' of Christmas.. please see this awesome CHRISTMAS LINK that I have found online! There are some great reads and easy answers to tough questions regarding the birth of Jesus and the REAL meaning of this holy time of the season!
On anther note, I hope you all continue to keep your bodies healthy and fit over the holidays too! If you can't find time to work out, at least try to get in your cardio.. going for a great run outside in the chilly air is so refreshing and invigorating!
