SMILE Welcome to the Month of May!
Here's hoping you had an enjoyable Cinco de Mayo weekend and didn't get too crazy with Margaritas and nachos! Those can be tough on the body!!

Speaking of bodies...This past weekend I was in PA where I attended the Pittsburgh Pro ... A big Congrats out to all the awesome athletes who competed! It was a large show and from what I saw, had many talented athletes! It was also fun to see everyone there and hang out with some of the new Pro ladies that are working with my good friend and nutritionist, Kim Oddo! He always has a beautiful group of ladies that he works with .. and seems to keep finding the winners too! Congrats to Sonia Adcock who won the Pro Figure Overall! For more info on Kim Oddo and his services, please see his website, www.bodybyo.com

I can't forget to say how fun working with the guys from BSN is too- they are a terrific company made up of so many neat individuals..  with a heart for the athletes too! If you haven't tried the products yet, may I suggest you do? Lean Dessert Protein is one of my favorites... just a scoop of Chocolate Fudge flavor (or Fresh Cinnamon Roll flavor) and 2-3 egg whites (mixed together until smooth) makes two delicious little pancakes! They can be eaten immediately hot or abit later on as a snack (cold)!

Ok, everyone, don't say I didn't remind you too.... MOTHER's DAY is this coming weekend, maybe you could give Mom a container of LDP to try? My Mom loves the Whipped Vanilla flavor!
Let's not forget the one that helped bring you into the world and cleaned up after you for so many years!!  Thank God for Mom's!! Be sure to tell yours you love her and appreciate her!

For all of you out there that are Mom's or going to be a Mom soon....  Happy Mother's Day and may God give you lots of rest and love over the weekend (and always!)!
Men, be sure to pamper the lady in your life who is a Mom!

Well, guess that is it for now!

Mo's Perferred Skincare Line for a Healthy Glow this summer!

Special Skin Care Needs for Physical Fitness Activists???

FACT: Cardiovascular activity increases the circulation of blood and lymphatic fluid (a clear body fluid resembling blood plasma, found in intercellular spaces and in the lymphatic vessels.) When the oxygen in your blood is increased and lymph fluid is circulated the complexion of skin improves and a healthier glow is achieved.

FACT: During exercise, sweat and sebum is produced (sebum is a natural emollient produced by the body-higher amounts are produced in avid exercisers.) Perspiration and extra sebum production on your skin can have positive and negative effects.

Perspiration contains high amounts of sodium and bacteria. Left lying on your skin, post workout, can cause negative effects on your skin such as dryness and dull skin texture. The extra sebum produced by exercise can cause acne. This is called "acne -induced by exercise".

Surprisingly, most avid exercisers and professional athletes do not realize their skin has 'special care' needs! Just because a typical cleansing product is targeted to "cure acne" it does not necessarily mean it will cure acne induced by exercise sweat and extra sebum production!

Also, many high endurance athletes, swimmers and persons who engage in outdoor sports suffer from dry skin. This can be caused by the elements of their workout conditions and the high sodium content in perspiration. With this in mind, a typical moisturizer targeted for 'dry skin' may not be the answer for physical fitness activists.

The best way to protect and enhance the exercisers' skin is by applying a moisturizer that is scientifically formulated for fitness, prior to exercising.

The moisturizer protects the skin by working as a barrier from sodium and bacteria while seeping into the pores of the skin, which naturally open during exercise. Also, cleansing your skin up to a half hour post workout is a must!

Keeping in mind that during exercise the extra sebum is brought to the surface of the skin thus a special "deep pore" cleanser is needed to remove the extra production of fluids and bacteria.

If one allows sweat, bacteria and other protectors such as sun screen to lie on the skin-especially the face-it can work against obtaining the natural glow and healthy face that we are all striving to achieve!

Another thing to remember is, skin naturally produces 'dead skin cells'; if this 'dead skin' layer is not removed by proper exfoliating a few times weekly, the only result will be cleansing and moisturizing these 'dead skin' cells! Basically, they need to be removed-so the cleansers and moisturizers penetrate the skin properly!
