| Nadine Epstein at Monmouth University on December 1st |
The Monmouth University's Jewish Cultural Studies Program invites you to hear Nadine Epstein, editor and publisher of Moment Magazine, co-founded in 1975 by Nobel Prize laureate Elie Wiesel and Leonard Fein.
Join us on December 1st at 6pm in Wilson Auditorium (MU Campus) for Epstein's talk:
FORT MONMOUTH IS CLOSING, BUT THE INFAMOUS HISTORY OF DISCRIMINATION AGAINST JEWS IN THE US ARMY SIGNAL CORP LIVES ON
Sixty years ago Monmouth County became the epicenter of American anti-Semitism. The story of discrimination against Jews who worked at the U.S. Army Signal Corps headquartered at Fort Monmouth during the McCarthy period has been told many times, but Moment Magazine editor and publisher Nadine Epstein recently uncovered a new wrinkle that preceded Joseph McCarthy's. Two Fort Monmouth engineers with the name surname Rosenberg were dismissed in 1950 even though they were not in any way related or connected to the notorious Julius or Ethel Rosenberg. Using the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to obtain FBI and military records, plus trial transcripts and archival articles, Epstein traced how the lives of two Rosenberg families were torn asunder. In the process, she realized how much remains unspoken about this traumatic period, which has shaped Jewish experience and memory in Monmouth County even until this day.

| Making Jewish Decisions: A New Course by Rabbi Stanway |

This unit will prepare adult learners to continue their study of Reform responsa in an ongoing study group. Participants should bring a binder for materials and paper for notes and writing utensils. Class Dates are all on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM December 11 December 18 January 22 January 29 February 12 February 26
