Deadline to attend Japanese Oshogatsu - Year of the Dragon January 13th

 

  • Buon Anno - Our committee has exciting plans to kick off the new year. We won't be meeting in January but stay tuned for our February meeting planned around a culinary program.
  • Grazie to the TCU Italian class students who are conducting cultural orientations for our youth ambassadors going to Reggio Emilia, Florence, Verona and Bologna in March. They should be fluent by the time they do go to Italy.

   

  • Ein gl�ckliches neues Jahr from our Trier committee. Join us for a joint meeting with the Budapest committee this month. We will welcome a Fort Worth native artist Sallie Wunner and her husband Johannes to our meeting. Sallie is now living in Germany. Bring a bottle of wine and join them. See calendar for details.

  • Akemashite Omedetou Gozaimasu from the Nagaoka committee. Make sure to join your friends at the Oshogatsu New Year's party. See calendar and article for details. Dinner, raffle and entertainment will all be part of this enjoyable evening. Bring some friends and share a small piece of the world with them.

 

  • Selamat Tahun Baru. The Bandung committee wishes you a very Happy New Year. We want to welcome our new chair, Brent Clifford, to the Bandung committee and we thank Tran Trong for his two years of service as the past chair. Join the group as they celebrate the new year with the Nagaoka committee at Oshogatsu.

 

  • Boldog uj evet from the Budapest group.We are excited about the year ahead and for our first youth exchange that includes 8th graders. Join the committee as they ring in the new year with the Trier group at their shared committee meeting this month. See calendar for details.

 

  • Feliz A�o Nuevo from the Toluca committee. We welcome the new Toluca Chair Doug Harman who is lining up a great presentation on Mexican Art History. Thanks again to our outgoing chair Eva Bonilla.
  • There will be no meeting in January, but join us in February, when we meet with our friends from the Reggio Emilia and Mbabane committees.
  • We still need volunteers for home hosting and day hosts for the upcoming Engineering Mentorship Exchange. Contact Beth for details.

 

  • Umyaka Lo Muhle and welcome to new Mbabane Chair, Dr. Staussa Ervin, who has already visited Mbabane three times and is leading the June Service Adventure delegation of adults, educators, and high school students.
  • Thank you to Carlo Capua for his many years of involvement with Mbabane as he passes the torch to Staussa, but his heart and support continues with all programs of Sister Cities.
  • The committee will not meet in January but will meet in February with Reggio and Toluca.

  • Xin Nian Kuai Le - Mayor Price will lead delegation to Guiyang & Beijing April 13-22 to sign the official partnership agreement. Councilman Dennis Shingleton, Guiyang Liaison, will also accompany the delegation.
  • TWU sending choir of up to 25 students on signing trip to perform at official ceremony in Guiyang.
  • Deposits are due Jan. 6th and orientation will be held Feb. 1st at 6:00 p.m. Location TBD.

Fort Worth Youth International

 

  • BIG THANKS to Sundance Square Management and all parents, teachers, & youth who volunteered for Sundance Santa program raising more than $15,000 for youth scholarships this year ! Join us January 22nd to"Celebrate New Year's & Sweets Around the World" as we skype with students from our sister cities. Applications for International Leadership Academy for high schoolers & Jr. ILA for middle schoolers are available on our website!

Emerging Leader Network (The Net)

 

  • Many thanks to the members of the Emerging Leader's Network for working hard at Sundance Santa and raising scholarship funds for the Yamagata Emerging Leader scholarship. Join them for their first meeting of the year as they discuss the calendar of events and other exciting activities.
  • The NET will also be volunteering at Oshogatsu so join your friends there to ring in the new year!!!!!! Seven interns will be working in the Sister Cities office this semester!!!! A big welcome to our TCU interns: Hayden Ganther, Natalie Garcia, My Ngyuen, Natasha Zinszou, and Dru Mcilhenny, as well as our UNT interns, Ashley Woeber and Chelsea Tyra.
