Mayor's Dinner Thank You

 

  • Monthly cultural orientations are set for the Youth Ambassadors to prepare them for an enriched spring exchange. Ms. Nelcy Cardenas, Alumni and member of the Emerging Leaders Network and Sierra Ballard, TCU Intern will lead the group.
  • The FW Culinary School is planning to host culinary members from Reggio in 2012.
  • Tarrant County College is partnering with SCI to outline their international programs for all campuses.

   

  • Save the date for the January meeting with the Trier and Budapest groups. Artists Johannes and Sally Wunner will do a presentation on Tuesday, January 10th. Sallie is a Fort Worth native currently living in Germany. The Trier group will not have a meeting this month but join them at the annual meeting & holiday party on Dec. 8th.

  • Save the date! The Oshogatsu New Year's celebration will be on Thursday, Jan. 19th at 6:00 p.m. at the new BRIT facility. Come celebrate and bring some friends. The group will be meeting this month to continue the planning for the event. See calendar for details.

 

  • Congratulations to the Bandung group on a very successful firefighter exchange program. Also, a big thank you to Keith Wells in the City of Fort Worth Emergency Management department for chairing it. The Bandung group will not have a meeting this December. Join them at the annual meeting & holiday party on December 8th.

 

  • The Budapest group will not be meeting this month but join them at the annual meeting on December 8th. The spring exchange to Budapest in March will include 15 youth ambassadors from 8th-12th grade led by group youth chair, Andrea McCormick.

 

  • Toluca Chamber and FW Chamber have rescheduled the business meetings until after the holiday season. Stay tuned for details.
  • 20 university engineering students from Tech de Monterrey Campus Toluca will be here in late March and will need host families and day hosts as they visit business sites with their professors. Contact Beth for hosting information.

 

  • Sign up for the 2012 Mbabane Service Adventure which includes painting murals, working with child care point centers and an enriched cultural program, tours and safari. Program includes 2 days in Johannesburg, South Africa. Exchange is open to adults who will join the youth, limited to 20, applications are available on our website, deposit due Dec.1st.
  • The opening of the Health Care Center in Mbabane will be led by Brad Mahon and Carlo Capua in March.

Fort Worth Youth International

  • Thanks to all the SCI board and membership for attending the fundraiser at Potbelly's on University where  25% of ALL dine-in proceeds went for scholarships for the youth ambassadors exchanges. 
  • Congratulations to all youth who applied as Youth Ambassadors.  Join us at the annual meeting at Alcon, and bring an unwrapped toy as part of our community service project with City of Fort Worth Cowboy Santa.
  • More than 100 youth and parent volunteers braved the cold during the Sundance Santa to raise funds for scholarships.  Thanks to the volunteers and Sundance Square Management for their 10th year of support of youth programs. 

Emerging Leader Network (The Net)

  • Congratulations to Keome Rowe, the NET member who received the first Emerging Leader Scholarship. He is going to Mbabane, Swaziland as an associate delegation leader. The NET will not have a business meeting in December but join them at the annual meeting on Dec. 8th. The scholarship group will be there to present the Yamagata Emerging Leader Scholarship award.
  • Come out to Sundance Santa if you need to put a last minute request in to Santa Claus. The NET members are working the last three shifts - Dec. 19, 20 and 21 from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
