Qur'an Competition - A Great Success

Al-Amal School Qur'an and Islamic Studies department held an awards ceremony for the winners of the annual Qur'an recitation contest on May 11, 2012.
A total of 184 students participated. There were 78 winners, 24 1st places; 22 2nd places, and 32 3rd places. Contestants were judged by independent experts who were invited by the school.
All participants received a copy of the Qur'an, a trophy, a Holy Land gift card, an award certificate, and a kufi/hijab. Additionally, winners received special gifts.
The award ceremony was attended by a large group of enthusiastic and happy parents.
May the light of the Qur'an always illuminate the lives of our children. Ameen.

Arabic Poets' Competition

 Al-Amal School's Arabic department held the 1st Annual Arabic Poets' competition on May 21, 2012. About a 100 students participated in this competition from grade 1 to 10. Elementary school : 1st place:Summer Omar (3rd grade) 2nd place: Afia Zeeshan (2nd grade) 3rd place: Rayaan Ahmed (5th grade) Middle & High school: 1st place:Mahmoud Mire (10th grade) 2nd place:Jouman Hamade (9th grade) 3rd place:Zachariah Crutchfield (9th grade) 3rd place:Ahmad Abuhadid (8th grade) One of the surprises that this competition threw up was that most of the winners were non native Arabic speakers. This is a testimony to the strength of the Arabic program at Al-Amal, Alhamdulillah!

Arabic Spelling Bee

 Al-Amal School's Arabic department held the 2nd annual Arabic Spelling Bee competition in April. Using an elaborate set of rules for judging an Arabic word for its correctness, the competition was conducted for all grades in elementary, middle, and high school. The winners of the school-wide competition are as follows: 1st place: Aisha Mire (8th grade) 2nd place: Abidillah Dirie (4th grade) 3rd place: Zohair Khan (4th grade)
