BUSINESS...It's Personal 

 

Most of us like to think we easily slip into professional mode the minute we cross the office threshold. After all, it's just business, right? Really?

 

The way we work, play, relate, parent and even love is inextricably linked to what we value, how we think, and the way we are wired.

 

Many of us would be surprised, and somewhat dismayed, to realize just how predictable our behavior in the workplace can be. It doesn't take long for colleagues and customers to perceive nuances of our personal style and either admire or dismiss us accordingly.

 

Some very talented and committed workers never seem to rise above lower management positions, while others with seemingly less impressive skills soar into executive roles.

 

So, what is the best way for each of us to evaluate not only our strengths but also the areas that continually seem to trip us up?

 

Taking an honest look at our personal skill set and preferences doesn't need to be a grueling experience. There really are reliable, validated and time-tested instruments to provide you with the insights needed to understand how you tick.

 

Are you a team player? How do you prefer to communicate? How do you like to be communicated with? What is your typical response to challenges and problems? Which methods do you naturally revert to when attempting to influence others to your point of view? How do you handle the pace of the work environment?
