Remebering the Fallen - Aurora, CO 07/20/12
The Best and Worst of Humanity
Just like most of you, I was in total shock when I heard the tragic news of the Aurora Colorado shootings in a movie theater last week. Unlike most of you I am all too familiar with death and face it on a regular basis as a part of my job. Being in the funeral business for such a long time has made me see death in a different light as well as appreciate life a little more than most people. I believe that it is in facing the death of a loved one that we sometimes come to terms with how valuable and precious life really is for all of us. But this event really shook me and I just had to break down and cry for those families that have lost so much in the blink of an eye for absolutely no visible reason at all. I know what it's like to face sudden death, I know what it's like to have someone sitting next to you one day and the next they are gone, forever. The incredibly sad thing about death is that it is so terribly permanent and as much as we may wish, pray or hope for a different outcome it is finite - there is no coming back after the burial. I sit with people all the time and see the insurmountable pain, confusion, anger, grief and chaos that crumbles their world and breaks the very foundation of who they are. Everything we believe in is questioned in those moments of indescribable suffering. Even the greatest and strongest of people fall to the ground and some can never, ever recover after death. |

The Road to Happiness - Part 2
Here at Anderson Patterson we believe life is too short to live unhappy lives. Today we'd like to share a little something we came across plus we've added our own Happiness Tips for your reading pleasure and life benefit.
Practice acts of kindness - Performing an act of kindness releases serotonin in your brain. (Serotonin is a substance that has TREMENDOUS health benefits, including making us feel more blissful.) Selflessly helping someone is a super powerful way to feel good inside. What's even cooler about this kindness kick is that not only will you feel better, but so will people watching the act of kindness. How extraordinary is that? Bystanders will be blessed with a release of serotonin just by watching what's going on. A side note is that the job of most antidepressants is to release more serotonin. Move over Pfizer, kindness is kicking ass and taking names.

Pre-Planning - The Wise Choice!
Should You Preplan?
Planning for your death does not have to be a difficult process and we're here to help you along the way! There are truly a lot of reasons why you should take the time to consider pre-arrangements for your funeral.
REASONS TO PRE-PLAN
- You decide on the services - cremation or burial, direct or full service.
- You determine how much money will be spent.
- You lock in the prices.
- You choose a plan that's best for you.
- You give your family peace of mind.
- You choose the funeral home that you can trust.
Pre-planning is a solid decision. Documentation and choosing a plan that fits your needs enables you to protect those that you love most. Don't leave your family guessing. Ease their burden by pre-planning. During their time of sorrow, allow them to reflect and celebrate the life you lived; don't leave them worrying about how they are going to pay for it! I want to say thank you one more time to each of you. The death of my husband was the toughest thing I have had to face in my entire life. Your caring & kindness & gentle manners helped me and my family to get through his death and funeral with less stress and anxiety. It has meant so much to me to have gotten to know you. We are so blessed by you, as I know all families that you touch are blessed. You have such a gift that you shared when we needed it most. Thank you, Sharon.
