Alumni Spotlight -

Staci Griesbach (1997- 2000)

Staci Griesbach moved all the way from Madison to Santa Monica, California. What would take a small town girl across the country after graduation? It wasn't the warm weather or lack of snow; it was the movie stars and entertainment industry. Staci now works as the Executive Director of Worldwide Publicity for two divisions at Sony Pictures Entertainment.

"My day to day job involves promoting our films and TV shows, and I work with the cast and filmmakers or creators to do that in the press.  It's an extremely rewarding position because our films differ so dramatically and no day is ever the same!  One day, I may have to interview Cher for BURLESQUE, and the next day, I am with Marvin Hamlisch and Donna McKechnie in New York for our documentary film, EVERY LITTLE STEP," Staci said.

Greetings!

This year's Friends & Family show was a huge success, and gave one set of our Singers parents the opportunity to be welcomed back into the family! Dave and Ann Athas, came to watch their second daughter, Laura, perform as a member of the Wisconsin Singers. Their eldest daughter, Julie, was a member of the Wisconsin Singers five years ago. It seems like they are glad to be back.

"It was a great show!! We're very proud that both of our girls are associated with a group of the quality as the Wisconsin Singers. We're happy that they have a small, close-knit "family" at a large school, we enjoy getting to know the other Singers and their families, and most of all, we love to watch them perform," Ann and Dave commented.

On the business side of things, we continue to work to better understand the needs and preferences of our fans and friends. We hope that you will help us by taking a couple of minutes to complete this survey, which will help the Wisconsin Singers get a better understanding of how to keep improving the organization in the future.

Remember to mark your calendar to join us at the November 18th "On Campus" concert, which is going to be held in Overture Hall for a one-night only performance. Order today and help us fill the 2,200 seats at this beautiful theater!

The Story of Eldon Himsel

Eldon Himsel documented driving two million miles in close to 30 years as a coach bus driver.

"A lot of those miles were because of Wisconsin Singers. They were my favorite miles," Eldon said.

Eldon became more than a bus driver to the Singers. His warm personality instantly made him a friend.

"I just enjoyed Singers. They are all so kind and good. And I just enjoy music. Most of the shows I would go to when I was driving," Eldon said.

Eldon's passion for music started way back when he was a child. He sang in a quartet with his two brothers and brother in law since he was old enough to remember.  "We put on a little 45 minute program. I had a love for music ever since always," Eldon said. "I really enjoyed the shows of the Wisconsin Singers."

Opening Doors

The Singers program has changed a great deal over the last 44 years, taking on more and more activities and responsibility. We continue to put on one of the best stage shows in the country, but are reminded every day that it is called the "music business" for a reason.

There is a lot more work being done behind the scenes than ever before, and our business team (now in our 3rd year) is constantly working hard to promote and sponsor shows, increase student involvement, keep our alumni engaged, and help solidify the program's financial future.  From our project managers and public relations interns, to our graphic artists and administrative staff, ware all working together to successfully manage all of these new responsibilities.

Singer Spotlight - Kylee Brinkman

Kylee Brinkman is starting her third year as a singer/dancer for the group. The Singers are very fortunate to have Kylee in the troupe, as her involvement happened by a stroke of luck. Her mother accidentally stumbled upon Singers when trying to find a scholarship to help pay for Kylee's tuition.

"I had no idea what Singers was, but knew it involved some kind of audition that I had to sing and dance at. Luckily I enjoyed doing both of those things. It wasn't until I traveled to Madison from Kenosha and was sitting at my audition that I saw some of the past shows and knew what I was actually auditioning for," Kylee said.
