 Greetings!
Change is often scary.  Filled with unknowns and uncertainties.  But change is inevitable - in our lives, our work, our relationships.

Whether you want to create stronger teams, or improve the leadership capacity within your organization, or simply make your own interactions with others more effective, it will require change.  And perseverance.  At Insights Vancouver, we're all about supporting and enhancing your ability to adapt, connect, and foster the changes necessary.  And it needn't be a scary process.

Insights into Leadership with Minerva Foundation of BC

Minerva

The Minerva Foundation for BC Women works to inspire and empower motivated women to reach their full potential.  For the past eleven years, Insights Vancouver has worked with Minerva to enhance leadership development for nearly two thousand women across British Columbia.

This year, over 70 women met at UBC for the three-day Learning to Lead Leadership conference and workshop. Since 2002, the amount of time given Insights Vancouver has continued to grow, and this year was no exception.  Insights Vancouver's Joyce Gwilliam, Anne Bishop, and Cheney Creamer led the nearly three-hour Insights Discovering Leadership session, and participated in the weekend's workshops.

Triad groups consisting of a Grade 11 student, an Emerging Leader and a Community Leader explored and shared leadership styles, discussed role models and learned from each other. Young women and emerging leaders learned first-hand from seasoned leaders, and some who had spent years in leadership roles shared 'Ah-Ha' moments they'd learned from the younger participants at this years event.

Throughout the weekend, participants contribute their artistry to a community conference quilt, which is created at the conclusion of the event.  Based on the quilts from previous years, it is obvious how important the Insights Discovery language becomes to participants by the end of the conference.  Many of the quilt panels incorporate the Insights colours, and it's clear participants value diversity and appreciate the talents others bring to their leadership learning.

Insights Vancouver is proud to work with Minerva, and if you would like to learn more about their Learning to Lead Leadership Conference or the Learning to Lead -Combining our Strengths program, contact Minerva Foundation of BC.

If you've looked at your training needs for 2013 and beyond, and decided you would like to expand your use of Insights internally, or improve your ROI (Return on Insights) contact our office.  The October IDA is already over half-full, so don't delay.

Spirits Re-Ignited May 31

Live - Love - Laugh - Learn

On May 31st, a Re-Igniting Spirit workshop was conducted for a mixed group of men and women from a number of organizations who were all interested in understanding and developing individualized stress remedies. Using the Insights Live-Love-Laugh-Learn Model, Insights Vancouver's Cheney Creamer led the group in exploring a number of different techniques to understand, recognize and deal with stress and enhance their personal well-being.

The session included exploration of the Insights Theory on Stress, practice of a variety of proven stress reduction techniques, and awareness of both external stressors and their own internal responses to distress.  Participants tried and experimented with a number of different techniques, and had the opportunity to explore and adapt the ones that worked best for them. The emphasis was on having fun, and even the weather cooperated and the outdoor component of the session was free of rain.

Monty Python was right!  A 'Silly Walk' reduces stress.

Participants examined their own Insights Discovery responses to stress and learned new techniques for stress relief.  Through discussion, reflection, participation, and experimentation, participants created individualized stress remedies, including strategies for long term wellness.

"What I find so powerful about Insights is how you can use the profile to get to so many things. We've used it for personal understanding, teamwork, change, and stress management. Each time, it's fresh and deeper."

- Rachel Zuckermann, HR Advisor,

District of North Vancouver.

A number of organizations have expressed interest in scheduling the Re-Igniting Spirit workshop internally, and the next public session is scheduled for Tuesday, October 23rd.
