Vancouver Sun, March 1, 2012 - Wage slump prompts renewed employee engagement effort.....

Canada News Wire, March 5, 2012 - With employee engagement firmly established as a critical factor in business success...

CMS Wire, March 5, 2012 - Engaged, Informed Employees Get the Job Done...

It is not hard to find recent headlines that sing the song most leaders and HR/OD professionals have know by heart for years. Engaged employees are more productive, more effective, give better customer service (internal and external), are happier, provide a better bottom-line, care more about their company, ...and the list goes on. It sounds simple, and yet why is it that having the vast majority of employees engaged is sometimes fleeting and difficult to maintain?

If you or others in your organization are interested in increasing levels of engagement during a current or emerging change, and laying a foundation for macro-level engagement in your organization, check out the April Building Engagement story below.

Insights for Building Engagement; April 17-18 & May 8

changeChange, (strategic, structural, process, and people-oriented) has been one of the areas that can be a graveyard for engagement. Resistance can crop up for a multitude of reasons. Perhaps the change isn't quite a clear as it should be. Maybe the communications have been sporadic or the content has been lacking. Could there have been a better effort to foster acceptance? What about how the implementation was handled? And has there been enough rigor in sustaining the change?

Insights Vancouver has partnered with organizations to build internal capacity that not only knows how to mitigate these pitfalls, but has the quickest possible response time to resistance. The most recent success involved a company as it implemented a major process change. By integrating the Insights Change Engagement Model© with best practices in change, and using a unique metrics tool during the implementation of this significant process change, the organization actually moved up the list as one of Canada's 50 Best Employers from 49th to 20th place.

If you would like this type of result for your organization, Insights Vancouver has a special application workshop starting April 17th. This three day workshop is designed to build skills in using best practices for building engagement in a changing environment.

You will leave this workshop with higher confidence and competence in leading any change initiative. It builds on the holistic Insights Discovery model by overlaying the best practices in change. You will also be introduced to a new metrics tool that will assist you in diagnosing resistance, and responding with lightning speed.

We start with your specific current or emerging change in mind. The two day theory and planning process begins April 17th. You receive a full tool kit including practical jobs aids, reference materials, and a complimentary Change Engagement survey. This tool will focus efforts and help you respond immediately to increase engagement during change.

During the two days, you will develop a plan for your specific change, and leave with the tools you need to implement your plan. The third day of the program, May 8th, will be a review of your plan, lessons learned (self and peer learning guided by the SME), and fine tuning for continued success.

Insights Discovery Accreditation May 1-4 in Vancouver
Discovery logo
For many of our clients, the Insights Discovery System is something that they want as a key part of their organization's training & development offerings. This is why we offer the Insights Discovery Accreditation (IDA). This engaging and experiential four-day course will be held in Vancouver May 1 through 4th.

Only five seats remain for this upcoming IDA, so if you're looking to become an Accredited Insights Discovery practitioner within your organization, contact us immediately to avoid disappointment.

One of our most Powerful Employee Engagement tools

In the fall of 2011, the City of Prince George introduced the Insights Discovery System to employees.  Insights Discovery Accredited Client Practitioners Mavis Bethune and Rae-Ann Emery draw on their very different colour energies and use a story telling style that really resonates and connects with fellow employees.

They keep sessions very interactive with lots of action and laughter.  Mavis tells us of one participant, who leads with lots of Fiery Red and Sunshine Yellow energy, that needed some convincing to attend and had trouble keeping his cell phone turned off.  But his comment after the workshop was, "This was the best 2-hour workshop I've ever taken", even though the session was 3 and ½ hours long!

One of the concepts these two facilitators continually emphasize during their sessions is that the Discovery preferences should never be used to stereotype people, and they invite participants to act as the "respect police" during the workshop.  Whenever participants hear someone using labeling language, they are encouraged to pick up one of several bicycle horns in the room and blast it!

Mavis and Rae-Ann are scrambling to meet the demand from staff, so this spring a third individual will be accredited in the Insights Discovery System at the May IDA in Vancouver.  Both Mavis and Rae-Ann admit they love the Insights buzz that's happening in the workplace, and Mavis sums it up by saying "This is quickly becoming one of our most powerful employee-engagement tools.  Thanks Insights!"

If you have considered adding internal resources within your organization, contact us about the May Insights Discovery Accreditation.  Seating is very limited and filling fast.  Email our office, or contact us  through our website.
