Insights Global
 Greetings!

We know Insights has the power to transform lives, and Insights Vancouver's Executive Assistant Sharyn Skalnik is often the first person to hear the personal stories people share about their Insights experience.

"Just last week, I was speaking with a woman who had recently participated in an Insights workshop and she said that it has completely changed her life at work and how she deals with things at work, in a positive way. She said she is a quiet person and often takes things very personally but after having gone through the Personal Effectiveness workshop, she is now able to understand that people's comments are likely coming from their dominant energy and she does not take those comments as personal attacks anymore."

In this month's newsletter we've got a lot to cover, including  stories about the transformational power of Insights, an update to the Insights Connections website, and information about the new Insights Champions program.   So let's get started.

Enhancements to Insights Connections
In response to consistent feedback, Insights Global has designed several exciting updates to Insights Connections to make it easier for you to navigate!

The existing resources within the Discovery Practitioners area have been reorganized to simplify your experience with Connections.  You will still be able to find all your favorite resources. Nothing has been removed. However, several new features will enhance your search results as you design your learning solutions. The original file folder structure is still accessible, and all of the resources can be found in these four new categories:
  • Apply
  • Know
  • Support
  • Connect

The new layout is easier to navigate, and the extensive resources are grouped together in easy-to-find categories. Let us know what you think about the recent changes by sending us an email.  We'd love to have your feedback.

Insights Champions Program
  • How do we keep the ideas from Insights for Personal Effectiveness fresh and exciting for staff members?
  • What can we do to ensure our employees are getting the most from their Insights Discovery learning and applying what they have learned?
  • Is there a way to develop additional capacity within our own organization to support the work of our internal Insights Client Practitioners?

These were questions Coastal Community Credit Union asked.  They had already adopted the Insights Discovery System, and offered introductory workshops with all 600+ employees.  Internal Client Practitioners were busy delivering or planning follow-on programs.  To keep the learning alive, on a team by team basis they decided to build on their use of internal Champions.

Champions fulfill an important role that helps co-workers apply Insights knowledge and skills at every level of their member, employee and community experience. Champions were recruited from interested non-management employees to facilitate Discovery based exercises in their respective locations.  In December, 2011, successful applicants received a customized training workshop delivered by Insights Vancouver, and have access to a suite of exercises, video demonstrations and resources to deliver about thirty-five 15 to 20 minute mini-sessions, often as part of a team meeting.

And is the Champion's Program successful? Here are a few comments:

  • "This is very exciting to me.  I am looking forward to starting the meetings in our Branch...It will be very beneficial to building relationships within the Branch and that will filter out to our membership."
  • "I am so excited to be an Insights Champion!  Insights has already made a dramatic difference in my work and personal life by getting to know myself and others, and how to communicate with them."

Congratulations to Coastal Community for their continued leadership in raising the bar in the application of learning.

For many of our clients, the Insights Discovery System is something that they want as a key part of their organization's training & development offerings. This is why we offer the Insights Discovery Accreditation (IDA). This engaging and experiential four-day course will be held in Vancouver May 1 through 4th.

Only a few seats remain for this upcoming IDA, so if you're looking to become an Accredited Insights Discovery practitioner within your organization, contact us immediately to avoid disappointment.  Seating is limited and available on a first-come basis.

brightsolid and Insights

We know Insights provides immediate impact and endless possibilities.

Katey Brown of brightsolid, a UK based technology group pioneering the expansion of the genealogy market with leading family history websites, really brings the concept to life in a short 5 minute video available HERE.

This is a great resource you can share with staff and fellow Insights practitioners.

Let us know what you think!

Global Collaboration Continues

Many of you may know Joyce Gwilliam, President of Insights Vancouver, is also a Senior Faculty Member with Insights Global.

Last month, she was called on to deliver an Insights Discovery Accreditation session in San Jose, California at the company headquarters of the world's largest search engine (who coincidentally already uses the same four colours as Insights.)  If you get the chance, ask her about
some of the amazing staff perks she saw there!

Congratulations Joyce, and thank you for sharing your depth of knowledge and experience with the Insights System and continuing to grow the Insights community world-wide.

2012 Investors Group Walk for Memories

Senior Consultant Shauna Grinke, her son Matt, and Executive Assistant

Shauna & Sharyn Celebrate
Sharyn Skalnik took part in the Investor's Group Walk for Memories Alzheimer's Walk this past weekend in Port Moody.  Senior Consultant Anne Bishop and her sister also took part in the walk in Vancouver, in honour of Anne's Father who passed away earlier this year.  The five kilometre walk in support of the Alzheimer's Society was held in over 20 cities across BC.  As Sharyn noted "The day started out with heavy rain, but the MC of our event had everyone chant 'NO MORE RAIN' a number of times before the walk, and the clouds seemed to part and half way through the rain stopped!  Joel also managed to find a geo cache along the way, which added to the fun."  Our group of Insights walkers raised over $1000 in support of the Alzheimer's Society of British Columbia!  Congratulations to all involved!

Thank you Sharyn!

A manager of a provincial ministry division recently wrote to say "Sharyn, I wanted to take a moment to say 'Thank you' for the incredible service you provided our organization last month. I understand from Kim White that one of my colleagues did not complete his Insights Discovery Evaluator before Kim's session. I was informed by multiple sources about your quick turn-around of his profile on the morning of the meeting.

Thank you so much for your extra effort and for always providing such positive support when I send you email requests!"

Over the past year, traffic on the Insights Vancouver website has steadily grown.  The average visitor now spends nearly three times as long on our site, and one of the most read sections is our 'Client Solutions' area.  Visitors want to hear how Insights has had an impact on your organization, or how you've used a particular exercise to help employees reach their potential.  They want to know how you're using Insights to bring out the best in individuals, teams and organizations.  If you have a story you'd like to share, please drop us a line, and we'll let our visitors know.

If you have comments or suggestions for articles in upcoming newsletters, please contact our office.
