I offer the following Jungle Gymnasium (JG) Workout Challenge to build speed across four modes of locomotion, to push stamina in short intense bursts, and to develop and learn to optimize short recovery periods. The make-up of this 12-minute JG Challenge is simple but you must stay strictly within the guidelines to get the most out of the challenge.
Gear: You and a stopwatch.
Penalty Exercise: Sprawl Burpees
The Challenge Protocol-At the top of each minute you will hit the following exercises:
Minute 1-100 Yard Dash
Minute 2---100 Yard Bear Crawl
Minute 3---100 Yard Dash Running Backwards
Minute 4-100 Yard Backwards Bear Crawl
Minute 5-80 Yard Dash
Minute 6-80 Yard Bear Crawl
Minute 7-80 Yard Dash Running Backwards
Minute 8-80 Yard Backwards Bear Crawl
Minute 9-40 Yard Dash
Minute 10-40 Yard Bear Crawl
Minute 11-40 Yard Dash Backwards
Minute 12-40 Yard Backwards Bear Crawl
Penalty Protocol-You must start each exercise at the top of each minute. If you stay at maximum speed you will allow yourself more recovery time but, this gets to be a bit hard to manage after a bit. If at any point you fail to complete a given task inside the given minute you must immediately hit 10 Sprawl Burpees. As soon as the Burpees have been completed hit the timer and go back to work starting with your "failed" exercise. If you lag again at any point repeat the Penalty Protocol.
Have fun!
