ESP RAW 111: The Wrestler's Guard Vol. 4: Shuck & Wizzer Position (Front Headlocks, Gator Chokes, the Top Crossface, Short & Long Slithers)What does that too long title mean? It means we pick up right where we left off on RAW 110 --this is a stand alone volume but you would need to view preceding volumes to discover how we got off of our back into the position of advantage. Here's a quick rundown of the drills included:
- Turning a modified 3/4 into a Front Headlock (and vice versa).
- How to submit with a Front Headlock, if that's your strong man cup of tea.
- For we mere mortals, it is wiser to set up a tight, tight Gator Choke using the Reverse Lever in both a Pre-Load and Post-Load set-up.
- Next we cure Gator Rolls that are stalled due to posting with Elbow Shucks and a Top Crossface.
- In case you haven't noticed, a good wrestler ain't gonna let that Gator Roll happen but seeing as how we've gone to all the trouble of setting it up we'll demonstrate two drills that exploit the wrestlers' stubborn base and allow you to finish with a choke/crank all the same--Roll-free but your opponent will be broken flat in either case.
- Got a strong opponent and you can't roll him or even hit a shuck or top crossface? That's where slithers come in.
- We'll provide you with two slither drills and the go-behind options ,or you can stop along the go-behind path and hit the 3 on the journey submissions that may suit your fancy.
- 25 drills total for this mighty common head-to-head short offense/post-sprawl position.
(This DVD comes with a printed syllabus for inclusion in your training notebook). ESP RAW 111: can be had this month for only $32 (S & H included) at the end of the month the price goes to $42 Domestic/$52 International.

The Pushing Circuit
Hang on to this one inTENers. Anytime you see The Pushing Circuit posted this is what you'll know to do. Use the prescribed weights (within parentheses), when you are able to complete The Pushing Circuit in under 18 minutes add 5 pounds to all weighted exercises except for the slam ball--the slam ball will remain stable throughout. You will run through this circuit 3 times, with some exercises dropping out as each circuit rolls around again. Exercises in bold are performed all 3 rounds, underlined exercises are performed the first 2 rounds, and standard text exercises are performed the first round only.
- Slam Ball Push Pass (40/30) 8--Push the ball outward from your chest as far as possible, run to it, pick it up and repeat for all 8 reps.
- Hunched Ring Dips 8--Hunch forward over the rings throughout the exercise. Attempting to look directly under your center of mass during the positive and negative portion of the exercise will aid you accomplishing this.
- Slam Ball Twist Toss (40/30) 8--All reps right then left.
- Dumbbell Flyes (40/20) 8
- Bench Press (165/95) 8--Weight seems low I know, but performed in sequence it gets a bit surprising by the time round two rolls around.
- Kneeling Overhead Slam Ball Toss (40/30) 8
- Wide-Grip Bench Press (165/95) 8
- Plyo Push-Ups 8 --Place a 45# bumper on the mat, place one hand on the bumper the other on the mat, hit a push-up and explode up and over the bumper to the other side of the bumper plate. That's one rep.
- Elevated Roman Push-Ups 8--Elevate the feet and use very widely placed parallelettes for your hands.
- 1-Arm Dumbbell Bench Press (50/30) 8--All right then all left.
- Decline Push-Ups 8--Place your hands on a pair of parallelettes and your feet elevated at least 48".
Have fun! |
