 Midwest Foods Educates Students on Eating Healthy and Buying Local.
Midwest Foods spent Monday, October 24th visiting local schools with local farmers and local food to help spread the word on eating healthy and buying local on behalf of its customers.
Urban agriculture farmer Walter Ford, from Windy City Harvest, discussed his farm's urban, hoop and aquaponic farming practices at one school. Walter was recently featured in an article in the NY Times. A co-op of Amish farmers also made the trip down to visit other schools.

 Farm Tour of Tree-Mendus Fruit
On Monday, October 17th Midwest Foods treated 60 customers to a tour of Tree-Mendus Fruit in Eau Claire, Michigan. The treat was not just in experiencing the impressive orchards, but also in getting to know Herb Teichman and his family. After a tour and hearty farm fare on the multi-generational farm, customers picked their own to take home. Clients also had a tree "rented" in their name for the entire 2012 growing season.

Guatemala has entered into a state of emergency due to Tropical Depression 12-E (Kenneth).
This could cause rains to intensify in the Pacific and Central regions with greater rainfall in the southwestern and western regions. Landslides have been reported, there have also been road closures, floods, collapsed bridges and overflowing rivers. For the time being, shipments for the
next few days are being evaluated and everything possible is being done to ensure collection of harvested product in order to minimize loss. Shipping companies have announced an irregular service.
