Panama Galias Melons

galias2

These melons arrived from a farm located in the valley of Anton, which is a very fertile volcanic land facing the Pacific Ocean. Like all of our direct purchasing, the farm is HACCP certified, and all food safety controls are in place.

The Galia is one exception to the rule that good melons only come in late summer and fall. Galias are now grown in California, Chile, most southern U.S. states, as well as in Costa Rica and Panama. Galia melons are not picked unless they're mature and have a high sugar content.

Galias look like cantaloupes but the rind is much more golden and the flesh is an appealing pale green, with the texture of a honeydew.

Galias left at room temperature  have more flavor, but once cut, they can be wrapped and refrigerated.

Our Price: $13.50 per case
