Strive to be more

Student Council Board Members were sworn into office by Father Rippy on Friday, September 7, 2012.  The 2012 - 2013 officers are (left to right):  Alexia McCants, Vice President; Tino Mahlunge, Secretary; Conor O'Connor, Treasurer; Caroline Hickey, President and Hugh Quinn, Editor of the Royal Royal - STM Online Student Newspaper.

STM teachers recited and signed their Profession of Faith before the entire school community at Mass on September 7, 2012.
Pizza Lunch This Friday
The Pizza Lunch to benefit STM's Computer Program will be this Friday, September 14.  It is always a little more difficult to get volunteers and market table items for Pizza Lunches which benefit "specials" like computer, art, library, etc., because they do not have room parents.  So, this is a special plea to all parents to please consider volunteering on Friday.  Equally important, if you could send in non-food items and healthy snacks for the market table, that would be a big help.   For every $10 spent on items for the market table,  you can claim credit for 1 hour of volunteer time.

We will need two parents to come to the cafeteria at 10:30 to set up the market table.  All other volunteers should come at 11:00.  The Pizza Lunch will be over around 1:15.

If you can come at 10:30 to set up the Market Table, please let me know:   laurie.purpuro@klgates.com

Thank you!

Nurse's Note

Handwashing!  Beginning tomorrow(Thursday) I will be holding handwashing sessions in each classroom.  We will have a short discussion, then I will allow each child who wants to try the glo-germ gel to apply it, then wash their hands, then place under the black light to see how effective their handwashing was! This is a favorite activity of the children and they will bring home a handout. I emphasize that these are pretend germs that won't hurt them.

EXTENDED DAY MEDICINES

If your student uses our extended day program regularly or on a drop in basis and also has medicine for a chronic condition in the school clinic, we need a second bottle/inhaler in the extended day office. Epipen pairs can be split and put in clinic and extended day. It is required by Arlington County regulation that we have medicine easily accessible by the extended day staff.

Need volunteer hours?  The Lion's Hearing and Vision Testing van will be here October 24th and we need approximately 6-8 parents to make these screenings run smoothly.  Please contact clinic to sign up.

First Parking Spot
Last year one lucky family purchased the premier sport at the auction.  This family will be able to drive right up to the head of the line during dismissal.  This parking spot will be closest to the playground - so please remember to leave that spot available.  Please see Mrs. Bauer if you have any questions.
