Greetings!

Our e-newsletter is off to a great start!  Please continue to spread the word to others.  We have a link added to our web site for people to be able to easily add their name to our list.  Also you can forward to a friend.

We added an extra deadline for individual artist fellowship grants due July 15th.  There should be funding to award two or three $1,200.00 grants.

Sincerely,  Mara Wittman, Arts Council Director

Grants!  Think of the potential ... then apply.

potteryGrants support a whole variety of arts activities in our area.  The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council has many grant deadlines coming up!

Individual artists can apply for a fellowship grant right now for $1,200.00.  Musicians, dancers, actors, painters, poets, etc... can all think of applying by July 15, 2010.

Our new Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund grant is due August 1, 2010 and again September 1, 2010.   The September deadline will have a portion reserved for funding public art projects.  Grants are available with just a 10% cash match requirement.  Maximum grant amounts are still being determined for this next cycle.

August 1, 2010 is our next deadline for both Arts Project Grants and Artists in the Schools grants.  Grants of up to $3,000.00 with a 10% cash match.  School districts can sponsor artist residencies and/or summer arts experiences for kids.  Non-profit arts organizations can produce and sponsor a variety of programming.

More grant related announcements, previously awarded grant lists, and grant applications are available on our website.  Our grants serve the Minnesota counties of Kittson, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake, and Roseau.  Grants>>>
Poets and Writers of Northwest Minnesota Book
This next fall, our Arts Council is interested in compiling together poetry and short stories from our regional writers to be printed, hopefully in January 2011.  Right now we are looking for a focus group of people who are interested in developing and fine tuning this project.  We would like to set up a meeting for later in July.

Please contact our office if you are interested in helping with this endeavor.  Call Mara at 218-745-9111 to discuss.  There will be a few contracts for services issued related to layout design and editing for this first edition.  A RFP will be issued shortly.
Enjoy the summer by actively participating in an arts event in your community or a community just down the road!  I challenge you to get out into our region this summer to learn from others what you can do to bring the arts into your town.  Our grant rounds are coming up and funds are available.

Also, we are looking for new members to serve on the Arts Council board of directors.  Openings are in Marshall, Roseau, Red Lake, and Norman counties.

Sincerely,

Mara Wittman
