Willard's Falling Out: Meet the Writer and Director
Meet the Writer and Director by clicking on the video link above.

A student-centered drama program at Willard, advised by George Rose, has shown once again that they can do anything. Not only a well written, directed, and performed "dramedy", Falling Out offers an important insight into the impact of "coming out" for a middle school student. In this case, it's more like "falling out" when it happens unintentionally. The storyline shows how a welcoming school makes a difference.

Berkeley public schools were the first in the nation to adopt the Welcoming Schools curriculum, and these students could have written it.

One of Diablo Magazine's ten Eco Awards in Education was given to Berkeley High's Green Academy for the best "school within a school" in recognition of the training of "the next generation of eco-warriors".

Here's part of what is written about the BHS Green Academy: It's become common for schools to incorporate sustainability into their science programs, but at Berkeley High, an entire curriculum is built around the idea of a greener future. Grade level reading lists: A to Z

Boys reading
Teachers, literacy coaches and reading specialists in all of our elementary schools are working toward the goal of all students confidently reading grade level books by the end of the 3rd grade (Level P/Q).  Elementary report cards that include both each individual student's reading level and the benchmark for the grade level.  Reading lists leveled from A to Z are available to help families choose those "just right books" that foster a love of reading.  You can find the leveled book lists here.

Reading every day makes a difference!
