16th Annual Gail Rich Awards

Tuesday, January 24, 7:30pm

Rio Theater, 1205 Soquel Avenue, Santa Cruz

To say we at PVAC are proud is indeed an understatement. Our very own Judy Stabile has been designated to receive the esteemed Gail Rich Award on Tuesday night at the Rio Theater. Judy, our newly elected President of the PVAC Board, has been a leader at PVAC for 14 years. As the Sentinel so aptly put it, "she is a pillar of the South County visual arts scene" she is and has been an inspiration to many artists in Santa Cruz County and that influence has in recent years stretched beyond our county, state and even country. Her tireless work for PVAC as a mentor, curator, Gallery Committee member, and Board member is a source of pride for all of us who benefit from the product of these efforts: mounting arguably the best art exhibits in the County. Congratulations Judy on the recognition you so deserve! Read the SC Sentinel article HERE.

 Sculpture IS: Sabbatical 2012

Sculpture IS will be taking a one year sabbatical this season after a run of 6 straight years.

Sierra Azul owner and Sculpture IS curator, Jeff Rosendale, is using the up-coming 2012 season to renovate and replant many areas of the Sierra Azul Garden. We heartily thank Jeff and Sierra Azul Nursery and Gardens for their generosity of time, sponsorships and community spirit. Visit the garden this year to visit the permanent collection and some carry over pieces from the 2011 exhibit.

Sculpture IS: 2013 is planned for the summer and fall of the coming year.

  Gallery Update

Board of Directors: With the incredible work of our volunteer base, the hard work of staff, and with your support, 2011 was an outstanding year for PVAC.  Under the leadership of Jeff Rosendale as Board President we produced seven exhibits which were enjoyed by over 6000 patrons.  After five years on the Board, and six years hosting and curating Sculpture IS at the Sierra Azul Nursery and Gardens, Jeff is taking a break. He will continue on with PVAC in an advisory capacity, and we look forward to his counsel.  Our new President, Judy Stabile, is an long time PVAC volunteer, who has been on the Board for two years.  Susanna Waddell continues on as Vice President and Treasurer, while Jean Beebe steps into the role of Board Secretary.  Beverly Moore continues on with us on the Board heading our docent/volunteer program.

Rydell Exhibit Thank You's: PVAC would like to thank Arlene Gotshalk and Helene Woolsey for putting so much time and energy into curating this outstanding exhibit; Susanna Waddell and her "crew" for the elegant food served at the reception; Kristin Hayward for the beautiful reception flowers; Daniella Woolf for donating her "boats" to the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz; and the Gallery Committee for all their assistance in hanging the exhibit.
