Be the Change, Embrace the Change, and Reap the Benefits.

"The only constant in life is change." We have all heard that a million times! While is does speak the truth it still does not prepare us for actually dealing with change, especially when that change is difficult in nature or seemingly forced upon us.

So how do we become our own agent of change? How do we accept what life has delivered to us when it can seem so, well, life changing? I am in gratitude everyday for my life. I have many things to be Sign of changegrateful for and not enough time or space to bore you with them here.

That being said, like everyone else in life and business I have had my share of change that has needed to occur. Some not so enjoyable.

I frequently get asked how to accept change and make it a joyful experience after the dust has settled. Here are three points to help you get going.

First, be proactive.

Consider the "what if" situations in life and business. There is no way of knowing what will happen, but if you plan and visualize your response to what may happen you will be better prepared to deal with it, or something similar when it does happen.

Mountaineering training is a good example of this. You train for the worst case scenario so in the unlikely event you fall or get caught in an avalanche you are prepared to react without thinking. The key here is not to dwell on the possible outcome of the change, but to plan your reaction to it and create your new reality after the change.

Second, keep it in perspective.

Every day changes occur. Some heavier than others. Yet change is always change. It is moving from one perspective to another. You will never know if the view is better on the other side of the change if you do not give it a chance to let you look.

Keeping calm allows better, more creative expansive thoughts for problem solving. Losing perspective means constriction and much more difficulty in keeping things in perspective.

Meditation and visualization are very helpful in this situation. By being proactive (see number 1) in these practices you will be better prepared to go through change with minimal stress. Don't start to learn these tools when change occurs. Be ready and practice now!

Third, be solution oriented.

Always, always, keep focused on a solution. Even when it seems there is no solution, keep focusing on overcoming the barrier to finding a solution! You may not know the exact outcome from following a solution but it is better to take action on a well thought out solution than be frozen in fear and doubt.

Keep moving! Get input from others if you are stuck, do research, be your own best advocate! It has been my experience working with clients for many years that once people understand this point the answers they seek suddenly become clear.

No one but you can make these adjustments. Practice these on a daily basis with small changes and you will be better prepared when big changes come your way, and they will.

If you feel you need some help to get you going please send me an email and I can coach you through some of the finer points, no charge.

Change happens, every minute of every day. Whether you realized it or not, this is the nature of life and business. The more we try to hang on to the way things are, the harder it is to deal with change when it happens to us.

Believe me, you can embrace change with ease and grace in every situation and bring a high level of Joy to your everyday life. I did it and you will too. This is another big step to Holistic Happiness!
