The Truth About Attitude

We have all heard about attitude and the importance of having a good one and the dangers of having a bad one. It is so ingrained into our culture I sometimes wonder if the meaning has been lost in all of the lip service it has received. Here are three questions and some suggestions to test your attitude for consistency. Consistency is the key word here since if you only "occasionally" have a good attitude it is still a bad attitude and is affecting your quality of life.

Attitude check:

  1. Do you wake up everyday excited for the day to begin?  Yes I said everyday. This is a habit that can take care of 99% of all bad attitudes. After a good nights sleep first thing in the morning is the best time to be ready and willing to live life to the fullest. If you want fast changes in your mornings try this for a few days!
  2. Are you interacting with every person you meet with and open heart and a welcoming smile?  Yes I said every person. This carries your morning routine throughout the day. Most of us have interaction with others everyday. We are judged by how we make others feel. Ultimately we are the ones who benefit by how we treat others. Why not make people feel good? Make yourself a promise to smile, take time with people, including those who serve you daily, the gas station attendant, coffee barista, and grocery clerks to name a few. Leave them feeling a little better then before you came along and everyone wins. Do it for you.
  3. Do you reflect in gratitude from your day?  The best way to end your day, right before you go to sleep, and right after you turn out the light is to silently, or verbally say what things from your day you are thankful for. Steps one and two above give you a good start! This is an excellent exercise to do with your staff (I used to do this and morale reached an all time high) or with your kids each one taking time to share a few things. There is much to be in gratitude about if we are just aware of our surroundings. Green grass, dogs in cars, rain, birds, sunrises, etc. The more you practice this the more you will see even more to be grateful for, that's just the way it works.

I promise these steps work every time if you use them. I have proven it in my life and I have helped many of my clients, and past employees through this process and the results speak for themselves. Just check out my testimonial page and see for yourself. If you are in  business for yourself, an employee, unemployed, retired or a stay at home parent, these tips will work for you, if you work the tips. Please let me know the results from a weeks worth of effort and if I can help you on your journey to creating a better more fulfilling life through adjusting your attitude.
