Interactive Candidate Forum
Friday, November 2nd
11:30 am - 1:30 pm
Willmar Conference Center
During our Interactive Candidate Forum and after candidate dialogue on each question, each candidate will be asked to say if they would vote yes or no on the respective issues. Audience members will then have the chance to respond to the same predetermined questions via the IClicker polling system. Those in attendance will get a remote and will have the chance to cast one vote per question on a variety of issues. The results will be displayed in real time to the entire group. Using the real time voting system will allow us to dive deeper into issues and better gauge what those in attendance really think. The polling system is easy to use and will truly keep all engaged during the Forum.
This event will be for Chamber members and prospective members. There will be a $15 fee to attend the event which will include a Chef's Choice Buffet (Meat, Potato and Vegetable), assorted soda and coffee.
Please RSVP to the Chamber by calling 235.0300 or emailing chamber@willmarareachamber.com.
Seating is limited, so register early! |
Community Marketing Coalition Survey Results
The group looked at all of the responses to the survey, discussed likes, dislikes, and trends, then each attendee wrote down their favorite two suggestions. From there, they chose the four most common selections and voted. "Expect Great Things!" was a unanimous choice! For the sake of full disclosure, the other choices were as follows:
- Where Lakes and People Come Together
- Where Diversity, Community and Innovation Come Together
- Innovate. Exceptional
What's best about the final choice is that it took our original choice and highest vote getter in the survey, "Expect Great!", and made modifications based on the input of the real stakeholders - community members.
Click here for the complete listing of the survey results. |
Don't Miss Out on Being Recognized!
Minnesota Business Gives is designed to motivate, educate and recognize local businesses in Minnesota for charitable giving and community involvement contributions they make to their local communities. The program is managed by the Minnestoa Chamber of Commerce in association with local chamber partners. Willmar Lakes Area Business Gives joins more than 30 other local chambers participating in this program.
Business Gives is an excellent way for businesses to receive recognition from their peers and their community for the many contributions they make to their local community.
Businesses are recognized for giving cash and/or in-kind contributions to charitable organizations amounting to 2% or more of their pretax earnings. Best of all, because recognition is based on the percent of income given in cash and/or in-kind donations, a small business that gives $1,000 each year can receive the same recognition as one that contributes $10,000.
Businesses are encouraged to participate by completing a Participation Form and submitting it to the Willmar Lakes Area Chamber. On the form, a business certifies that during its most recently completed fiscal year it gave at least 2% of its pretax earnings in cash and/or in-kind contribution to charitable organizations. A Calculation Worksheet is available to help with calculating the 2%.
In addition to being recognized at an annual Chamber event, each business receives a letter of thanks and congratulations from the Governor of Minnesota.
Completed participation forms should be sent to:
