The hot days of August are behind us and cooler weather traditionally arrives this month. With cool nights and warm days this period of time is called "Indian Summer".
We had 185 chickens processed on the 25th of August and will have another group processed on the 29th of September. This is our last batch of chickens until next spring.
Now is the time for the emus to start getting active with respect to picking their mates for the breeding season. We have chosen a female emu to be paired up with our pet emu, Barney. While it is the female that chooses their mate we will move this female in a pen next to Barney thus limiting her choices. Once they start laying together, with the fence between them, we will open the gate and allow them to be together. If we were to just put them together and she did not like Barney, she could seriously injure him.

Call or send us an email with your choice of a name for Barney's new mate. Judges will be Dee and Mike. Duplicate winning names will be placed in a basket and the winner will be drawn. The Gift Certificate has no cash value and can only be applied to the purchase of any product sold by 4 D Acres. Contest will close at 5PM CDT September 30, 2010. In September of 2008, when I last visited my daughter, I purchased the Emu X Pain Relief Formula and brought it back to California. I did not try it until this month, April (2009), when I started having a muscle/neck pain that would not go away. I tried a herb hot pack which helped some, I took pain meds but mostly I hurt. I could feel the burning pain just to the right of my neck in the upper shoulder muscle. It ached constantly and I found it very hard to rotate my right arm above my head. My husband found the oil (Emu X) and put it on my sink one day, so I decided to try it...what could I lose? Well, needless to say, it has been the only thing that keeps the pain away and I do feel that, because the pain is not there constantly, that my neck/shoulder is getting better. I don't know how it works, but it does. I can usually raise my arm above my head and put on my clothes without pain...yea! Dee, this is a fantastic product. Who knew?

Thank you so much for the order I received. I have arthritis in my right (hand) and it gets pretty painful. I have tried different things but nothing worked until I tried Emu-X. I was so pleased and happy when I found out how much it helped. I put it on at night and wrap it with gauze and tape and the next morning I have no pain. I will always keep this around.
