Did you know that you can"tag" Connections to help organize them into  categories. Possible "tags" include:

 - Customers
 
 - Prospects
 
 - Partners
 
 - Suppliers
 
 - Referral Sources
 
 - References

You can even assign multiple "tags" to one Connection. For example, a Customer could also be one of your top Referral Sources. "Tags" help with a number of activities like when you want to send a message to everyone in one category via LinkedIn.
