Well, it seems that the long hot summer is over and cooler weather prevails!

As you enjoy the fall weather it might be a good time to try out some new activities with your canine partner.

Have you ever heard of Treibball?  Think of herding balls instead of livestock.  It is a fast growing sport and our friends at ABC Pet Training are the first ones in the metro to offer classes.  Contact ABC Pet Training for more info.

Maybe you are interested in pet therapy work.  If so, Pets for Life is always looking for new volunteer teams.  Visit KCPetsforLife.com for more info.

Dock Diving and Disc Dog are other options.  For more info on both be sure to visit Dogs Life KC

You could always just whip out that clicker and teach your dog some fun tricks!  Just google the term Dog Tricks and you will find plenty of options with training plans.

Whatever you do, be sure to get outside and enjoy this great weather because we all know it won't last forever.

Dog 101 Tip

Dining with Dogs.  It's No Big Deal, Honest!

Recently, some good friends of mine spent the day helping me out with some yard work.  Part of the deal was allowing their 3 dogs to roam the property while we worked.  This was no big deal and my two dogs enjoyed the company.

At the end of the day I was too tired to cook so I suggested that we head into town to eat dinner at my favorite restaurant.  This put my friends in a bit of a panic trying to figure out what to do with their dogs while we ate.  I told them to relax, it was a dog friendly restaurant.  This seemed to panic them even more.  Their dogs had never been 'out to eat' and they were sure it would lead to mass chaos.  I assured them that we would be fine.  We had 3 dogs and 3 people so we would each be responsible for one dog and I would show them exactly what to do.

Adoptable Me!

A friend of ours is selling Macy's WOW Passes which will be good on October 16, 2010.  The cost is $5 and that entire $5 will go directly to  Kitty City Kansas!

Kitty City Kansas works countless hours rescuing kittens and cats from high-kill shelters, and then adopting them out to suitable homes.  All the kitties that are adopted out are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and wormed.  The kitties live in loving foster homes until they are placed in a forever home.  And if for some reason the forever home doesn't work out, Kitty City will always take the kitty back.
