Slippery When Wet!

National Mobility Awareness Month

When I was in college at Florida A&M University, I caught a ride home to visit family for Thanksgiving. That ride changed my life forever. The car was involved in a tragic rollover accident that left me as a vent-dependent quadriplegic. Before my accident, I was very active, with basketball being my favorite sport. While my new reality is challenging, it hasn't stopped me from pursuing my dreams. I am enrolled at Florida International University as a pre-public administration student and am constantly reminded by my friends and family to be thankful that I can still accomplish my goals despite my current condition. May is National Mobility Awareness Month and the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association is celebrating local heroes all across North America. They will be giving away three Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles to a caregiver, veteran or person with a disability that is dealing with or overcoming mobility challenges.
