03.20.12Not a JABBER? That Simply Can't Be!

Recently, a friend mentioned that someone she knows was considering moving into my neighborhood. Instantly, I launched into "sell" mode, telling her how great the parks are, the schools, the people. I wanted to share my passion for the neighborhood with friends of a friend I hadn't even met yet. This realization made me wonder, how do you really convey the character of a neighborhood? Without even realizing it, what I was really expressing were my feelings that possess me every time I find my exit off the highway. My neighbors share those same feelings, at least those who also have kids or a dog that my kids insist we approach on our evening walks. I know I am very fortunate to have good friends on my block that I can call on for a missing ingredient halfway through cooking or to share a glass of wine on a Friday night. It's not so common these days as our lives increasingly demand Superhuman strength to balance careers, family and extra-curriculars in this information-technology age we live in. But then, I smile when I realize how we have come full circle in our online lives with JustAskBoo Ft. Lauderdale. I get the best of both worlds, by connecting every week, not just to my immediate neighbors, but also to the many thousands of JABBERS in Broward County, my virtual backyard.
So, please get out on your virtual front porch and shout out a reply to another JABBER or share your latest inspiration with the JAB community... it's the neighborly thing to do!
Happy JABBING!

I am working on redecorating our home and was wondering if anybody knows of any contemporary/traditional home design stores besides Pottery Barn, Home Goods, Bed, Bath & Beyond and Crate & Barrel. I am also looking for wall art for our living room and for our daughters' bedrooms so any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Must-See & Do List for Singapore Trip From Chloé Cohen: REPLY
I am looking for recommendations of must see places in Singapore and/or small side trips near Singapore. I am attending a wedding there in May and have about four or five days after the wedding to make a couple of side trips. I am looking for more of a cultural trip than big city and resort options. Any information would be helpful. Thank you.

Let's Hear It for the Girls!
From Team JAB
March is Women's History Month, a celebration of women's contributions to history, culture and society. Each year, the National Women's History Project selects a theme that highlights achievements by distinguished women in specific fields, from medicine and the environment to art and politics. The 2012 theme, "Women's Education - Women's Empowerment," pays tribute to pioneering teachers and advocates who helped women and other groups gain access to advanced learning. Honorees include Emma Hart Willard, a higher education pioneer; Charlotte Forten Grimké, an educator and advocate for the education of African Americans; Annie Sullivan, a disability education architect known for her work with Helen Keller; Gracia Molina de Pick, a feminist educational reformer; and Brenda Flyswithhawks, an American Indian educator. Work it out! From Michelle Delgado: REPLY I am Mom to 3 small boys and am looking for a personal trainer that can meet 2-3 times a week preferably in the evenings after 6pm. I live in the Pembroke Pines area. I am very motivated but need that extra push. Any recommendations are welcome. |
I'm Tardy For the Party Theme - Help!
From Ashley Schutz: REPLY
I'm chairing a charity fundraiser event this fall in Palm Beach, Florida, and the theme is always centered around music and cars. I'm trying to come up with something new and unique, but I'm having a creative block. Past themes have revolved around colors (Little Red Corvette, Pink Cadillac, etc.) but we've pretty much exhausted every color of the rainbow. Last year was more of a generic "rock 'n roll" concept. Has anyone been to a similarly themed event? If so, I'd love to hear about the ideas you saw. Thanks so much.
Moving In a Hurry!
