Speak Up!

From Jennifer Yevoli: Reply

I am looking to borrow a Plexiglas podium for the Charity Guild luncheon on April 13th.  If you can help us find one, please reply above.  Apparently, they are quite expensive to rent and we are trying to save costs to raise maximum funds for our two charities:  Kids in Distress and Children's Diagnostic & Treatment Center.  The kids and Charity Guild thank you very much!

Not sure what to do with the kids this summer?  Living in fear of the dreaded words, "I'm bored!"  Well, here are a few ideas to get you thinking and planning  so that the months ahead will be filled with  more green time and less screen time.

Got a swimmer?

Have someone who needs to learn to swim?  The Swimming Hall of Fame in Fort Lauderdale offers an excellent roster of learn to swim classes, as well as a day camp. Click here to see the listing. Check also with your local parks and rec department for swim lessons.  Water safety is essential for children.  Remember, no child should ever be left unsupervised in a pool.

Beach Bound?

The city of Fort Lauderdale offers parking passes for residents and frequent beach goers.  Read about it here.

Park it Here!

Broward is filled with wonderful parks.  We have state parks, county parks and local parks. Plan on checking them out.  Here are a few to get you started:

John U. Lloyd State Recreation Area: 6503 N. Ocean Drive, Dania Beach

Hugh Taylor Birch State Park: 3109 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale

Treetops Park: 3900 S.W. 100th Ave., Davie

Ann Kolbe Nature Center:  751 Sheridan St., Hollywood

Markham Park: 16001 W. State Road 84, Sunrise

Quiet Waters Park/Butterfly World: 401 S. Powerline Rd., Deerfield Beach
