More H1N1 Vaccine Clinics:  January Schedule

H1N1 vaccine supplies continue to arrive, making it possible for the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health to schedule additional public clinics.
 
If you have not yet received the H1N1 vaccine, there is still time to protect yourself from this potentially dangerous illness.
 
The following H1N1 vaccine clinics have been scheduled:
  • Tuesday, January 12th from 12:30 PM -6:00 PM. 
  • Tuesday, January 19th from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. 
  • Saturday, January 23rd from 9 :00 AM - Noon.
 
LOCATION 
 
All H1N1 clinics are held at 404 N. Federal Ave. (across the street from Fareway) in downtown Mason City. ENTER on the WEST SIDE of the building through the WEST DOOR (next to the alley).

  Could You Have Radon in Your Home? 
January is Radon Action Month. Radon Kit
 
The Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health has a limited supply of FREE radon home test kits - for Cerro Gordo County residents only.  When free kits are gone, residents can order kits for $5.00.
 
For residents outside of Cerro Gordo County, kits can be ordered for $5.00.
 
All kits must be picked up or ordered at the Health Department office: 22 N. Georgia Ave. Suite 300 during business hours: 8:00 AM-4:30 PM.

Even if you have a short stay in the hospital and need home care on a temporary basis, call us first.
 
Perhaps you are helping an aging parent make home care decisions. We can help you.
 
Make arrangements with us before a hospital stay. That way, we are all ready to help care for you at home, where you feel best.
 
Our trained Home Care Aides are available to assist you with a variety of needs. They offer personal care services such as bathing, skin & hair care and foot care.  

Our Public Health Nurses provide skilled home care for people who have an illness or have been in the hospital. Public health nurses keep your physician updated on your recovery. Public health nurses perform skilled tasks such as drawing blood for lab tests, giving medicine by injection, caring for a wound, or teaching you and your family about your medications & treatments.

To pay for home care services, Public Health will bill Medicare, Medicaid or your private insurance.  

A public health nurse is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
