New book designed to increase awareness of diversity in Europe
Brian W. Blouet, Huby Professor of Geography and International Education, has published the 2nd edition of The EU and Neighbors: A Geography of Europe in the Modern World. It uses the European Union as an organizing focus while discussing modern events.

House Joint Resolution commends Meg Smith '89 as Virginia Teacher of the Year Called a "beacon of excellence," by Superintendent of Public Instruction Patricia I. Wright, Margaret Alcorn "Meg" Smith has been named Virginia's 2012 Teacher of the Year. Ms. Smith is an eighth-grade English literature teacher in Lynchburg. She earned a bachelor's degree in history from William & Mary.

Mary Jo Bracken named for School Counselor AwardMary Jo Bracken, a School Counseling Site Supervisor through the School of Education School Counseling program, has been recognized with the 2012 Exemplary Professional School Counselor Award of Hampton Roads. Brandi Barber White, M.Ed. '09, counseling, praised her as a mentor.
