"Selectivity vs. Diversity"

Virginia McLaughlin '71, dean of the W&M School of Education, quoted in Inside Higher Ed article, "Selectivity vs. Diversity" as saying: "Our pipelines into our teacher education programs are very much influenced by the status of teaching in the United States right now. If we're serious about producing the best teaching workforce we can, we need to tackle all of those issues and not look for answers like admissions criteria."

Curriculum Interventions for Underserved Gifted Children
Tamra Stambaugh Ph.D. '07 and Kimberley L. Chandler Ph.D. '04 wrote a book titled Practical Solutions for Underserved Gifted Students: Effective Curriculum for Underserved Populations which includes a model that incorporates curriculum design and delivery for promoting the achievement of these students.
Research Presentations at Conference on Higher Education Pedagogy
Five members from the W&M School of Education presented at the 4th Annual Conference on Higher Education Pedagogy. The national conference showcases the best pedagogical practice and research in higher education today.

 

English as a Second Language Summer Institute 2012 

A wide regional partnership enriches the second summer English as a Second Language (ESL) course of study and the opportunity to learn theory and practice appropriate for meeting the multilingual needs of students in the United States and abroad. Courses are offered May 30 - August 2, 2012.
