NCATEW&M School of Education hosts NCATE Board of Examiners for site visit

The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) Board of Examiners conducted their 2011 site visit to the SOE on March 26-30.  The joint NCATE/State team uses the site visit and the comprehensive Institutional Report as the basis for their Fall 2011 accreditation recommendation.   

Prof. StoddardProfessor Stoddard awarded Spencer Foundation grant
Assistant Professor Jeremy Stoddard has been awarded a grant from the Spencer Foundation to study the impact of 18-24 year-olds political views and experiences on their abilities to make sense of and discuss media. This study is part of the foundation's Civic Learning and Civic Action initiative.

RU ABLELearning to be Self-Determined

Recently, the College of William and Mary Training and Technical Assistance Center (T/TAC), in partnership with RU-ABLE at Radford University, provided a fun day of team-building and self-awareness activities for 42 Norfolk middle school students with disabilities. Later, these same students attended the Virginia Transition Forum in Norfolk to learn more about the importance of being self-determined.

Throughout the year the Diversity Committee has sponsored several diversity-related events. Recently, Anne Charity-Hudley, Assistant Professor of Linguistics,  spoke on "Understanding English Language Variation in US Schools." Also, Fanchon Glover, (pictured here) Assistant to the President for Diversity and Community Initiatives, spoke on "Building Capacity for Diversity and Community Initiatives at the Organizational Level."
