Wild Dog Pups
We know many of you love wild dogs. For 7 years a number of packs have established themselves on the Kwando reserve in northern Botswana. They usually den in July and pups emerge during August. Lebala and Lagoon camps still have some space for August and September and beside the dogs the reserve has huge elephant, plains game and predator activity and perfect weather at that time. If you're a rider, think what it must be like to gallop alongside a group of giraffe, or to wade on horseback across a crystal Okavango delta channel. Your dreams can come true at Macatoo Camp where they keep superb anglo arab thoroughbreds for some of the best riding safaris in Africa. Ideally you should spend five nights at this comfortable camp which gives you a chance to experience a couple of days fly camping in an even more remote part of the private reserve. Macatoo has a full range of walking vehicle and boating safaris for any non - riding fellow travellers. Contact John

Mahale Mountain Camp is one of the few places in the world where you can track and spend time close to chimpanzees. The setting is unique, with forested mountains towering 8,000 feet behind you and the clear waters of 420 mile long Lake Tanganyika before you. So you can watch rich birdlife, butterflies and 60 chimps behaving and playing in the morning, then take a relaxing snorkel or boat ride in the afternoon. To visit this utterly remote corner of Western Tanzania contact Warwick.

South Africa - A world in one country
Millions are being spent in South Africa sprucing up roads, hotels, airports and safari lodges for the World Cup in June. So, we think the ideal time to visit that incredible country will be the next twelve months. South Africa is called "a world in one country" because you can enjoy everything from thrilling wildlife safaris to world class restaurants with cellars full of estate bottled wines in the Winelands. You can hike the towering Drakensberg mountains, relax in delightful country hotels, watch whales and great white sharks on the Garden Route and climb aboard one of the world's classic rail journeys steaming in style into Cape Town. It's one of those countries that lends itself to a three week holiday and at Africa Exclusive we know some great places to stay. The holiday needs expert planning so contact Ross now. |

Remote Kenya An eight hour hop to Nairobi and a 60 minute skip in a small plane will find you sitting on top of Elsa's Kopje with views across 2,000 sq. miles of mountains, rivers and savannah plains. George and Joy Adamson had a camp at the foot of the Kopje, though nowadays there are one or two more comforts, like the infinity pool giving an eagle's eye view across the Meru National Park. Ten open fronted cottages are tucked away around the Kopje, and at the summit sits Elsa's Private House with two ensuite bedrooms and its own pool - perfect for a family or two couples. The rich landscapes of Meru National Park surround you, refreshed by a dozen rivers, home to big black maned lions, thriving elephant herds and thousands of plains game. See them on exciting walking safaris and game drives by open vehicle. Another hour in a small plane would find you on a private reserve on the endless Mara plains where two million migrating wildebeest, zebra and gazelles will be roaming between June and October. Contact Paul now to book your Kenya safari.

Feeling Impulsive?
Do you fancy a week or two of safari adventure right now? We can arrange superb safaris for people travelling at the last minute. In Botswana Baines Camp is perfect in June with the Okavango waters rising, while big cat and elephant watching is perfect at Savuti camp. The walking season gets underway in Zambia's remote South Luangwa and Victoria Falls is looking stupendous with record water levels in the Zambezi this year. July is one of the best months to climb Kilimanjaro and around then the great migration crosses into the big plains of the Masai Mara. We're full of ideas and your last minute safari will be superbly organized as usual. Contact Paul.

A Magical Combination Zambia's South Luangwa and Lake Malawi are two very different places which complement each other beautifully. Although in different countries they're only a couple of light aircraft hops apart. Tiny remote Luangwa camps like Tafika and Chamilandu are best for slow fascinating morning walking safaris through the river valley. After a siesta, watch elephant herds relaxing in the river as dozens of hippo look on and kingfishers dart into the Luangwa. Then fly over to Pumulani lodge where 10 luxurious villas and a large infinity pool overlook Lake Malawi. Enjoy snorkeling, diving, windsurfing and sailing in this remote, peaceful World Heritage site. Contact Ross. |
