Attendees had the opportunity to help shape our profession and to hone their skills as professionals. The event featured a member expo, a vendor expo, and included a working session of the ISSP Sustainability Lexicon Project (tm), which is helping to move the industry towards consensus on the terminology used by sustainability professionals across various disciplines. A keynote presentation by author Randy Olson on How To Effectively Communicate Sustainability To the Masses was a highlight of the two-day event.
Also, five industry leaders selected as founding members of the ISSP Sustainability Hall of Fame(tm) were inducted in a ceremony at the conference. Gil Friend and Bob Willard were on-hand to accept their awards in person. Mary Anne Lanier, the daughter of Ray Anderson, also attended the event and spoke eloquently of her father, who passed away in August 2011. Karl Henrick Robert and Amory Lovins joined the ceremony through a live Webcast link. At the conference, each inductee was honored by their peers for their accomplishments in the areas of experience, education, innovation, reach, publication and service to the industry.
