Supporting the Vision in Two Ways

by Calvin Landrus, SRCFC National Director

In mid-July, the Bolen family traveled nearly 1,000 miles to Lander, Wyoming to provide leadership for SRCFC's presence at the International Climbers Festival. When I realized that I couldn't attend this year and asked them to go in my stead, I knew I was asking them to give-up some of their own agenda so they could carry-forward the vision of Solid Rock - "Bringing the Good News to Climbers."

What did they bring about? They were able to serve, with the help of several other Solid Rockers, nearly 200 climbers a breakfast, to connect (in person at the event and afterwards via email) with over 70 climbers through a gear giveaway and to give witness by their presence and spoken word to many. They supported the vision and brought the Good News to climbers!

Upon their return, we recorded a short interview of Ryan, Julia, Emily and Evan at the Bend Rock Gym (where Ryan is the manager). I apologize for the poor audio quality at times but you still get the essence of their ministry trip. Many thanks go to them for being willing to serve the Lord!

There are many more of you supporting the vision of bringing the Good News to climbers in your own individual way and by participating in the group outreaches. For example, serving alongside of the Bolen family were Matt, Steve, Jack, Amrutha, Allison, Eric and Lisa. Thanks go to them (and to everyone who is actively being a witness in the climbing community)!

Now, the second way to support the vision is by your giving. SRCFC only can minister when there is funding for that to happen. Our presence at the ICF cost over a thousand dollars. We spent $500 for the sponsorship fee, about $300 for product for the breakfast, $130 for the climbing rope that was giving away and there were other miscellaneous costs. If you have given in the past, you deserve credit for Good News that went out to the climbers at the festival. Thanks!

We have a line-up of outreach events planned for this fall as well as helping some with the support needs of Nate and Sarah Moore. Will you consider at this time being an Annual Donor ($30), an Annual Supporter ($100) or a Grade Six Giver (regular monthly donation)? Your donation will help ensure that our shared vision of bringing the Good News to climbers is abundantly funded.

And remember giving has its benefits! The real benefit is what will come to you from the Lord. When the Apostle Paul told the Philippians that their giving was "an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God" (Phil. 4:18), his point was that giving towards the Kingdom was a sign of one's thanks and praise to God. We give because of what the Lord through Jesus Christ has done and will do for us!

The other benefit is the "giving thank-you" we send out to those who give. For an Annual Donation, you will receive your choice of a climbing biner or a logo beanie. For the Annual Supporters or Grade Six Givers, you have your choice of the new "wings" logo shirt (design by Gordon McArthur), a quickdraw or waterproof Bible.

Without your support in participation and giving, SRCFC's vision would be just an idea. With your support, it becomes a reality. Please prayerfully consider being involved to your greatest possible level!

Outreach Climbing Trip to Cuba

January 23 to February 9, 2013: Outreach Climbing Trip to Cuba

DEADLINE FOR INTEREST IS JULY 31, 2012

SRCFC Cuban Chapter Coordinator, Maikel Gomez, has asked from time to time for Solid Rock to come to Cuba to climb and to give witness of Jesus as we come. It has been a matter of prayer for quite a while and now seems to be the right time to begin to make plans for a trip to Cuba. So, we are planning a trip to Cuba in February 2013 with the main event being the National Climbing Festival tentatively scheduled for Feb. 1-4.

Learn more. If you are considering going on this trip, send an email to office@srcfc.org to stay in the information loop.
