Did You Know?

The Caesar Salad is American? A chef in San Diego (Cardini Caesar) was short on food supplies over a busy weekend.  He did not want to turn customers down, so he concocted this salad with what was on hand - romaine, anchovies, garlic, croutons, parmesan, lemon, egg yoke, Worcestershire and olive oil!  To make the salad more interesting, he made it table-side.

A Serendipity Bride:
One Year Later

A year ago, on a super hot day we catered a wedding at the Grant Humphreys Mansion.  For such a high temperature, our bride, Julie, remained cool and collected.  We wanted to check in with her a year later to see how the first year of marriage has been and if still thinks about her Big Day!

While planning their wedding, Julie and Chad being recent graduates, had certain "challenging" budgetary restrictions.  Serendipity refined their menu until it fit their needs perfectly.  They got her dream wedding and stayed within their budget.

When asked about her wedding day, Julie glows, "It was seam-less! Serendipity went beyond my expectations! The staff made sure both sets of parents were taken care of -- anything I needed, the staff was right there, everyone was so accommodating. I could not be more grateful to Serendipity! And the food- I still receive compliments!"

The first year of marriage has flown by for Julie and Chad, which means they must be having fun!

Q:  I am getting married at the end of July and I want my guests to have something to drink when they arrive for the outdoor wedding ceremony, but don't want to have the full bar open. Suggestions?- A.E.

A.  A great way to get the celebration under way without opening the full bar is to have servers greet guests with a refreshing summer beverage such as, Peach Sangria or Raspberry Lemonade.  You can also have pre-poured refreshments on a little table for guests to help themselves.  Also, be sure to have a water station ready to go for all guests.  Encourage staying hydrated with pretty water dispensers with an assortment of choices for the guests: plain, fresh mint, lemons and water with cucumber slices.
