The fall colors are exploding all over Oregon right now and this is no time for an armchair adventure. Bike, hike, or drive: it's time to push off. In fact, let's jump into canoes and kayaks and wend our way through the dazzling colors of Klamath County. Oregon canvas is dappled with groves of aspen, tendrils of vine maple, spiny sweetgum, asters, mountain ash and dogwood, and more.

Who wants to be a couch potato, for example, when you can go to the 75th Annual Klamath Basin Potato Festival, in person, and hobnob with other potato people. (Bring your little tater tots along, too. Kids love this stuff.) The Festival includes a Potato Parade, free bbq, live music and vendors selling everything from potato chip cookies to Irish sundaes.

You can always get your Halloween pumpkin at the grocery store, or you could take the adventurous route, via train, to get a free a pumpkin, courtesy of Klamath & Western Railroad.

The largest freshwater body in Oregon, Upper Klamath Lakes is approximately 20 miles long and 8 miles wide. The Upper Klamath National Wildlife Refuge has been established on land along the northern edge of the lake to preserve natural habitat.
