on the McKenzie River

Nature is saturating our landscapes with broad strokes of vibrant color this Fall. All over Oregon leaves are exploding in shades of yellow, gold, orange and red. Walk, ride, row or drive, but whatever you do this Autumn, take time to see the colors. Here are five of my favorite Fall foliage hot spots.

On my Fav 5 List: McKenzie River Trail, Mt. Pisgah Arboretum, The Steens, Rogue/Umpqua Scenic Byway, and the Old Colombia Gorge Highway. Get the details here!

Art Along the Rogue
Grants Pass, Oregon
October 6-7

The City of Grants Pass celebrates Art Along the Rogue in their 10th annual music and street chalk art festival. Held in downtown Grants Pass on H Street, this event is provided to the community at no charge. Thousands of people joined in last year for a weekend of fun, music and art.

Since Neanderthals first hammered images of fish on cave walls, humans have been expressing their appreciation of nature through art, sculpture, photography, words and songs. I've rounded up some events that celebrate the art of the natural world, so - even though it's not the same as sticking your toes in a cool stream on a hot day - you can still get out and enjoy vivid interpretations of the power and beauty surrounding us. The Oregon Grape
Oregon Grape Wiki

The state flower of Oregon is the Oregon Grape (Berberis aquifolium), sometimes called Oregon Grapeholly, and not to be confused with grapes of the snacking or wine variety.

The Oregon Grape is considered evergreen, since they never lose their leaves, but the leaves do change to a dark purple shade in fall and winter months.
