Sunriver Marina Here's the secret: Sunriver isn't a river, it's a place. The river that flows through Sunriver is actually the Deschutes River, which begins its 252-mile journey in Central Oregon's Little Lava Lake and flows all the way to the Oregon/Washington border, where it joins the Columbia River and heads to the Pacific Ocean.

 

But our travels this week are taking us along a thin strip of river weaving through beds of lava and Ponderosa pine forests at the foot of the Cascade Mountains. We found three great ways to explore this land of sun and water:  READ MORE

Creatures of the Night

The Oregon Observatory at Sunriver Nature Center offers daily Solar Viewing, 11am - 2pm daily.  

 

When the sun goes down and the starts come up, the Observatory also offers Night Sky Viewing,  

Tuesdays - Sundays from 9-11pm.

 

Nature Center Owl Prowls are offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:45-8:45pm. Join their Naturalists at dusk to explore animals of the night. Meet a real owl and take a short hike on the Sunriver Nature Trail.
