The Land of Sun and Water Sunriver by Raft, Bike and Cart by Kyla Merwin Cheney Here's the secret: Sunriver isn't a river, it's a place. The river that flows through Sunriver is actually the Deschutes River, which begins its 252-mile journey in Central Oregon's Little Lava Lake and flows all the way to the Oregon/Washington border, where it joins the Columbia River and heads to the Pacific Ocean.
But our travels this week are taking us along a thin strip of river weaving through beds of lava and Ponderosa pine forests at the foot of the Cascade Mountains. We found three great ways to explore this land of sun and water: READ MORE Photo courtesy of Sunriver Resort Are you an Oregon Road Tripper? Post your adventure here.
