Seven Scenic Routes Into Central Oregon   

  

Lake Billy Chinook  Someone once told me, in not so nice of terms, that I must think the sun rose and set on my "lily-white ass." I don't know whatever happened to that guy ... but I do recognize the propensity to see oneself at the Center of the Known Universe. And while apparently my rear-end doesn't govern the cosmos, I've learned that a little health self-absorption can be good for the heart, and the lungs.
In that vein, I will argue that Bend, Oregon - an area I can certainly find with my own two hands, is the epicenter of recreational pursuits in the mid-region of our great state. Looking out my own backdoor, and the many road that return me here time and again, I've rounded up seven great reasons to head to the geographical center of Oregon, how to get there, and what to see and do on the way.
