Beauty, Terror & Tradition

Deschutes River Water Falls

Benham Falls World Waterfall Database The Deschutes River runs south to north for 252 miles, tumbling, swirling and falling, each in turn as the land demands. Carved through time, the river itself - and its spurs and tributaries - have many rare and beautiful features. Among the most compelling -for its combination of beauty, terror and drama - is the waterfall. Here are some of our favorite waterfalls that follow the spine of the Deschutes River.

Oops, we posted an incorrect caption to this Photo of the Week in August, naming the mountain as Mt. Bachelor. That grand monolith you see in the background is actualy the South Sister. Thanks for the heads-up from Eric Sande of the Redmond Chamber of Commerce
