The Infinity Loop Day Trips from Portland Mt. Hood National Forest stretches from the Columbia River Gorge south some 60 miles and encompasses over a million acres of forested mountains, lakes and streams. Star Party at Timberline Lodge

View the moon, Saturn, ancient star clusters, galaxies, dying stars, and the center of our Milky Way galaxy from an elevation of 6,000 feet on the southern slope of Mount Hood.
The U.S. Forest Service & Timberline will host a free Star Party at Historic Timberline Lodge. Program begins with an introduction in the Barlow Room inside Timberline Lodge followed by Star Gazing at the Salmon River Lot just east of the Lodge. Photo by Science Photo Library.
