On the Wings of Happenstance
Santiam Birding Loop
Ahhh ... Morning coffee, the
daily news, and blue skies draw my thoughts out the window. I know that spring is here, not because the month is April, or the sun is making more and more frequent appearances. No. Today, a tiny wren announces the arrival of spring, and a great big season of exploration and adventure.
The Willamette Valley Birding Trail is divided into 12 separate loops, including the Santiam Loop, which is anchored in Albany. Traveling throughout Linn County, you'll find ten birding sites from riverfront parks in downtown Albany, south along the Willamette River, eastward to the Calapooia River and on to Sweet Home, where the route follows the South Santiam River back to Albany.
