Ski It. Ride It. Live It! Question: What sits under 430 average inches of snowfall each year, has a two-mile Kaleidoscope, and shakes its bootie every other Friday night?
Answer: Willamette Pass.
The Bigger Question: What am I supposed to do there? The Bigger Answer: Ski It, Ride It, Live It! Photo: Larry Turner Willamette Pass Resort has six chairlift rides up and 555 acres of gravity down. They also have a Nordic center with 20 kilometers of groomed trails in the surrounding forest. Located only 66 miles from Eugene, and 70 miles from Bend, the resort boasts 29 exciting downhill runs, a vertical drop of 1,563 feet, and six lifts - including the state's only high-speed six pack. (That's a chairlift, friends, not a fasting acting beer.) Willamette Pass offers a wide variety of activities the whole family will enjoy. In addition to downhill skiing and snowboarding (plus night skiing) they have snow tubing and 20 kilometers of groomed Nordic trails. They cater to skiers and riders of all abilities and offer them the chance to experience big mountain terrain in a small mountain atmosphere. The Resort is operating on their normal winter schedule: Thursdays - Sundays. Link to the Snow Report for current conditions.

I've tried lots of energy bars and most of them I consider emergency bars - that Armageddon food that lives in the bottom of the pack and not something I'd even consider snacking on. However, I recently discovered Tram Bars and have already eaten a few before they ever made it to my pack.
