We went to Pine Mountain Sports in Bend recently to check out the new shoeshoes. Technology improves with every first snowfall it seems. Women: check out the new Lightening Snowshoes from MSR. The groundbreaking Total Traction™ frame delivers unrivaled 360° traction, as well as superior performance and usability. And Lightnings are lighter than their predecessors, making them ideal for use on flat and rolling terrain or any adventure that demands maximum traction and minimum weight.

Snowshoe prices at Pine Mountain Sports range from roughly $140 - $260. Somewhere in there is just the right shoe that fits for you.

When the River Ran Wild

Written by American Indian elder George Aguilar, SR., the book recounts events the author heard about while watching his grandmother make moccasins by the light of a coal-oil lamp and while strapped to the back of his aunt's horse on the way to the huckleberry grounds.
