A special eight-page insert to the Spring, 2012 issue of the YLW Connection, the official publication of Kelowna International Airport, puts "Life - the Okanagan Way" in Lake Country front and centre with 20,000 readers.

The insert is a partnership initiative between the Lake Country Chamber of Commerce, District of Lake Country, and Kelowna International Airport.

"Our Tourism Committee thought this would be a great way to showcase how much Lake Country has to offer as a place to live, work and grow a business," says Lake Country Chamber Manager Linda Wilson.  "People are always surprised at how much there is to see and do in the community, whether they are looking to relocate here or are simply visiting."

Articles and advertising highlight the diverse recreational opportunities and attractions in the district from wineries and farm tours to festivals and farmers markets.  The content also focuses on the business opportunities in the community and plans for commercial development.

Twenty thousand copies of the YLW Connection are printed quarterly with the majority picked up by travelers at the airport, and it is also viewable online in digital format.   Launched in 2007 by Accelerate Communications of Kelowna, the magazine has also been recognized for excellence in marketing and communications by the Airports Council International -North America.

UBC-O Faculty of Management

Co-op Students are Ready to Work!

The Okanagan valley, known for growing spectacular fruit and wine, now has the opportunity to cultivate and grow local talent - by partnering with the UBC-O Management Co-op Program.

For 32 years, UBC's Co-op Programs have provided thousands of students with transformational, educationally enriched experiential learning opportunities with diverse community partners across Canada and around the world.  With the Okanagan campus of UBC and continued development within the Faculty of Management, co-op at UBC continues to grow.  Right here in our Okanagan backyard we have the opportunity to take part, employ and help develop this local talent.

Management Co-op students have completed a minimum of the third year of the four-year undergraduate program.  These mature and knowledgeable individuals can support your business in many short term ways, including fast, easy and effective recruitment, the addition of fresh perspectives and new ideas, workplace readiness, flexibility and cost effectiveness.

The third year of the Management Program has been designed to be responsive to some of the unique challenges and opportunities of the Okanagan business and economic environment. The focus is on exposing students to the content of the key functional areas of business while providing an understanding of the challenges and issues associated with building sustainable competitive organizations.

Management Co-op Students are available to start during the summer of 2012 (May-August 2012 and/or May-December 2012 co-op hiring term options available).  Employment opportunities can involve: marketing, human resources, accounting, finance and supply chain management.

Complimentary job postings are available through the UBC online job board, CareerConnect, for all companies that provide Okanagan business exposure and experience for Bachelor of Management students.
