2011 Census Data Shows Population Growth
A total of 4,400,057 British Columbians were counted in the Census taken in May 2011, seven percent more than in May, 2006. The net addition of 286,570 people was approximately equal to the population of the entire Fraser Valley.
Canada's population grew 5.9 percent to 33,476,688. BC's population growth was second only to Alberta's (10.8 percent). Not only did BC's growth rate exceed the national average, it was also significantly higher than the 5.3 percent population gain recorded in the province between 2001 and 2006.
BC's fastest-growing municipality was Langford, which saw a 30.1 percent surge (to 29,228 persons) between 2006 and 2011.
Other municipalities in the top ten posted gains ranging from 21.9 percent in Lake Country to 12.7 percent in New Westminster. In this group, second-ranked Lake Country and West Kelowna (+13.5 percent) were the only municipalities not located in the Lower Mainland or on Vancouver Island.

DRAGONS' DEN Audition Tour in Kelowna
February 23rd
DRAGONS' DEN producers have hit the road for an  audition tour, with more than 40 stops in Canadian cities. The search is on for a new crop of aspiring entrepreneurs for CBC's hit TV show. Open auditions are coming to Kelowna on Thursday, February 23 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Okanagan School of Business, 1000 K.L.O. Road.
The stakes are even higher this year as DRAGONS' DEN and Shell Canada have partnered for a special "Future Now" energy innovation episode airing June 3, 2012. Three finalists will pitch their energy innovations to the Dragons, and the winning pitch will receive $100,000 from Shell Canada to help make their idea a reality. No experience is necessary and participants of all ages are encouraged to audition. After a highly-rated "All-Student" special in Season Six, DRAGONS' DEN continues to seek young entrepreneurs who think they have the money-making chops to take on the savviest business tycoons in the country.
All interested entrepreneurs should be prepared to pitch their business in under five minutes. If you can convince DRAGONS' DEN producers you are ready for the limelight, you could be invited to face the Dragons when the upcoming season is filmed in Toronto. Candidates are asked to apply online and bring a completed application form to the audition.

Business and Government Community Collaboration Event
March 6 and 7, Kelowna
As parents, grandparents and community leaders who value children and families, your energy and wisdom are essential to making the central Okanagan the best possible place to raise children.
Come and join the conversation to strengthen our community for young children and their families. Paul Born, president of the Tamarack Institute and author of the best-selling book, Community Conversations, will lead participants in learning to work together more effectively and with better connection. You will be inspired by fresh ideas and will learn ways to become more involved in the healthy development of young children. As a registered participant, you will also receive a copy of Community Conversations signed by the author.
All events take place at the Coast Capri Hotel Horizon room. CATCH will be hosting three events that will focus on Community Collaboration. While each event is targeted to different sectors, anyone is welcome at all events.
- CATCH's Network Gathering will be held on March 6th from 11:30 - 2:00 pm and an event specific to the faith community will follow from 3:00 - 5:00 pm.
