Featured Member, Joe Haskett
Joe Haskett

Joe has been married to Betty Haskett since 1954. They have one daughter, Terry, living in Naples.

During his active career, Joe opened six new NAPA Auto Stores and, after 44 years, he sold three of them to the managers in the stores and the other three to NAPA.

Joe was past president of Rotary many years ago.

To pass his time, he has been working Fridays at a local thrift store.

Joe says, "I am honored to be a Rotary member and have the opportunity to meet so many great men and women."

Featured Member, Bill Schweikhardt
Bill Schweikhardt

While no longer working in a legal practice, Bill does appear at hearings, trials & mediations on behalf of very large law firms representing very large banks in mortgage and credit card collection matters. It is cheaper to hire him to go to the courthouse than to send a lawyer from Atlanta, Orlando or even Miami.

Bill's wife, Kathi, is a native of Ft. Myers. They have two adult children, Katie and Ann -- both adults with children living in Naples. Both also have law degrees, but neither practices law. Both are married to lawyers who do practice law. Both are past members of the Rotary Club of Naples.

Bill's passion is feeding hungry people.

"Because of its size and true international cooperation, Rotary is a unique organization. It is possible, through Rotary for our small club to impact the lives of people the world over.  With today's communications we learn about problems everywhere. That's depressing. But sometimes through Rotary we actually are able to help solve some of them. That's empowering and uplifting to me."

Merry Christmas!

Greetings!

What an amazing time of year!  The Rotary Club of Naples is historically very busy during the month of December, and this year was no exception.

I want to thank Jennifer Hoy for organizing our Bell Ringing efforts and Ron Gustason for leading us in Child's Gift of Giving.  I also want to thank our many members who volunteered for both service projects and represented our Rotary club so well.  The community is always in need of our service, but there is something special about helping out during this time of year.  I am so proud to be a member of THE Rotary Club of Naples!

Hopefully your family is able to join us for our holiday luncheon on December 21.  We will once again enjoy holiday music performed by Billy Dean and Dawn.  It will be a fun time!

Best wishes to you and your family for a fantastic holiday season!

Yours in Rotary Service,

Frank

This Week's Meeting

Annual Holiday Party

Entertainment by Billy Dean & Dawn

Family Pricing for Holiday Luncheon

  • Kids age 5 and younger can eat from the buffet with no charge.
  • Kids age 6 and up can either have the full buffet for $20 or have a kid's meal for $14.  The kid's meal includes chicken fingers, fries, and access to the dessert table.

Naples Beach Hotel Staff Holiday Gift

  • Each year we pass around envelopes to collect money that will be divided equally among the Naples Beach Hotel staff who serve us each week.  The staff works hard to take great care of us, and this is one way we can express our appreciation.  Envelopes will be placed on each table at the 12/21 holiday luncheon.  Please feel free to be as generous as you wish.  We will present this money to the Naples Beach Hotel staff toward the end of the 12/21 holiday luncheon.

Sunshine

  • Last week Jacques and Barbara Groenteman witnessed the passing of his mother-in-law who lived to be 101 years of age. A service for her will be held at Hodges Funeral Home on 111th street (next to St John's Church) this Thursday, December 22nd at 3:00PM.

Endowment

Rotary Club of Naples Charitable Foundation Endowment

  • Are you aware that our club established an endowment fund in 2011? None of us can be charter members of The Rotary Club of Naples as we celebrate our 60th year, but we can be part of a lasting legacy for generations of future Rotarians by joining together to build and grow our endowment. Please consider OUR foundation in your year-end giving as well as in your estate planning.
